  1. I just read through the whole thread and after talking to my friend Tony at El Mirage,i'm gonna go with a Jag front on my '60 F100. If he can do it....I CAN!!! haha

If you don't mind, post it on this thread as well. This thread has pretty much become the best Jag IFS thread on the net. The more that is posted on it, the better it becomes.

Well worth it. I own two MG's - an MGB and a MGA. Both fun to drive on curvy roads. Neither can keep up with the Jag/T-bird combo!

  6. Pity the Jag threads are being shut down.
Does it take someone to complain about the thread or what?

??? Are you talking about this thread? Perhaps it could at least become a sticky. E-Type Jag front and rear suspensions were being swapped into '49 and earlier rods in the 60s and 70s; is that traditional enough?

  8. This is one of the better Jag threads on this site, so I'll just post my question here...

Does anyone know what the stock spring rating is on the rear Jag suspensions?

I am using the IRS from a 1980 XJ6 for my 47 Cadillac. Looking to purchase new adjustable coilovers. The Cadillac weights a lot more than the original Jaguar, however most of the weight difference is in the front. The original coilovers seem to be very stiff (2 guys, @400lbs, can jump up and down on the frame and only get about 1/2˝ of travel). I did a search on a Jag forum and found one guy calculated each of his springs to a 200 rating (using a press and his bathroom scales, scales read 200 when he compressed the spring 1˝). Not sure how accurate or proper technique that is. That is all I have found on my searches.

    Looking at using QA1 coilovers because I get a good discount on them through work... Ratings range from 95, 125, 150, 175, 225, 250, 275, 300, 350, 375, 400, 450 & 500. What rating would you suggest?

Complaining makes no difference. Hundreds of threads on Mustang II (1970 Pinto) and air bags (the trend started in the mid 1990s) still open. The Jag IFS was introduced in 1955 and the Jag IRS was designed in 1957. Jag suspension started being used in hot rods in the early 1960s and was in full force by the late 1960s. Just saying....

    Great thread !

This answers a question I had about the IFS.

    So....no British 55º thread form ?

However, I noticed that the heavier HexHd bolts that hold the steering arm & caliper to the spindle on my '86 XJ6 are 12mm....does that seem right?

Yet they let the 1965 Falcon thread run even though it is past the 1964 cut off!!!

  15. Cut off year is actually '65 I believe .

I'm pretty passionate about the Jag IFS / IRS and have noticed how the threads about them seem to fall off , so have created a group where I'm hoping we can share tech / swap info , post our install threads etc .
Take a look and get involved .

  16. Cut off year is definitely '65 (pre '66) according to Ryan.

Good Idea about the Jag IFS / IRS group.
