Hey folks, I'm a longtime forum-goer, but this is my first time on a car forum (I also joined the Ol Skool Rodz forum today). I'm a 16 year old kid, so I generally hang out on forums that pertain to my other hobbies. Now that I can drive, my hot rodding craze has been renewed. I live in Central California, just South of Fresno. Two of my uncle's are heavily into cars, and have been since their teen years in the mid 60's. I have lots of influence from them and my own mechanically-minded father, but am not too mechanical myself! I drive a '76 Jaguar XJ-S Coupe, which I got just the other week. Previous to that I drove a '73 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL Roadster, which was in need of lots of minor work throughout, and a new interior and A/C, along with some other stuff... So, we dumped that for the almost perfect-condition and fully-original 350 Chevy-converted Jag! My main interest lies in Traditional hot rods, though. My uncles are really into modern rodding, and have the money to pour into really nice rides. We on the other hand, don't. We currently have four project cars, only one of which we KNOW will amount to something. That's a '37 Dodge Coupe that was running just a couple of years back, that needs minor body work, uphostry, paint, wheels, brakes, and some tuning up on the engine and trans before it'll be ready to take off! But, that's my little brother's ride! We also have a '57 Buick Special Coupe, and a '35 Oldsmobile Fordor... But they're in need of total restorations, on both accounts. We aren't in the financial position to care for either, currently! I'm personally launching into a rat rod project on a '38 Chevy pickup body that we have! So, I hope to get lots of awesome tips and support from folks 'round here, and can't wait until I have some progress to show for it! I'm glad to be here on the H.A.M.B! -Gregory- (EDIT: Stoopid spelin' eror...)
Welcome aboard! you should check out the thread that begborrowandsteel started, young guys like yourself and the cars they are building. _T
Hey, thanks for the welcome, Travez! Could someone provide me with a link to the thread you mentioned? I'll run a search right now, but this being such a big forum, it might be hard to find Thanks! -Gregory-
How you doin? Welcome to the hamb. Not only can you search by subject matter but you can search by the name of the guy who posted it. Find the name in the members section and click on it, then click on threads started by this member. It will give you the history of that person on the hamb. Take some time to watch how things work here on the hamb and then have at it. Do some searches in the tech section to learn how to do things yourself, that always saves you money. Good luck and have fun. Sean
