I finished up th 26 coupe about 500 miles ago and while it's good to drive and all , it's missing something . I wish I wouldn't have gotten in a hurry and taken the easy way out ( yeah right ! ) and stuck an automatic tranny in it . It NEEDS a stick shift bad . I forgot who on here says it but I agree , Hotrods have three pedals ! Right now it has the dreaded SBC in it with a GM 350 tranny with the 6 inch tail housing . I want something like a 5 speed overdrive for it . It needs to use a hydraulic assist throwout bearing and a top load shifter since the frame is too narrow to accomodate a conventional clutch pivot and rod setup or a side mount shift linkage . I'd like to find a donor setup but don't know what to look for and what all will fit . It's a 400 cubic inch sbc , early 70's vintage . I don't know anything about the later model bellhousings or trannys and what fits what . I am not pushing much H.P. but it has decent torque . I want to run around a 411 rear so the overdrive 5th gear is a must . I need to know what vehicle or setup I need to watch for . I'd like to find it all together if I can rather than try to match up a bunch of different parts from different cars/trucks . Maybe I can find a wreck or junker . I sure appeciate the help . Thanks in advance .

Thanks for the reminder . I forgot about that . Is the bell housing bolt pattern the same on pre 1987 and and the later small blocks ?
