LOL, but you gave me an idea - could you make a grille filled with the aftermarket clear 59 Caddy tailights? It might work with your headlight bullets? Then again...?

I know that exact look wouldn't work but you get the idea. Something like it would be really cool.

,,,,,,,,,and THEN, i got this idea,,,,,,,,

lincoln hood back on,,,,hooded quads with chrome teeth under the hoods,,,,,,drawer pull grille,,,,,,,

puts some of that "sinister" look back into the car,,,,,,,

i think a matching scoop across the front of the hood (with chrome teeth) would be a good compliment,,,,,

still need to build a rolled pan, and some small wraparound bumperettes...

the evolution continues,,out of all of the ideas,,i think this has the most potential to get the car to where i want it,,,,

keep in mind, this is a VERY crude mockup,,,if you use your imagination, you'll see where its headed, , ,

You are heading rapidly towards this.

Which isn´t a bad thing by any means. It´s what I´d probably do in fact, but it´s been done already.

I never liked scoops above the headlights, personally. It can look like a very forced way of lowering the lights without reshaping the fenders. Not the case here I realise, but it can still look like it, if you get me.

I actually like the shoebox-ish front end the best.

James D, I kinda dig this very heavy front end, how do you do this? I'm amazed.

wow! that looks real!!!! i dont know jim .. that with the mesh grille no scoops.. glad i dont have to decide.. but this looks sick!

  12. I really like this...I think if you do a little magic and conceptualize a more appropriate grill for yours, and consider a mild scoop in the front of the hood you'll be on the way...

I love the way the rolled pan looks...very spacey....

    Nice photoshop James D...

OH MAN!!!...sometimes the paper and tape just doesn't give you a good visual,,,,THAT photoshop DOES,,,,,,you are a magician, , ,
I LOVE the way that looks,,,,Chopmerc's car is one of my favorites on the HAMB, i have been wondering how the 58 lincolns would look, the paper mockup i did gave me an idea,,but that photoshop just blows me away,,,,,i think i HAVE to do that now,,,,

Jim, with the Lincolns, I'm not sure how the clear headlight bullets would look, they might work, but you could also make some white frosted covers possibly with two chrome bullets on them..that would give that space-age look as well..

thanks cleatus, , the way i look at it is there is so much talent here, and so many guys willing to give constructive criticism, i'd be a fool not to take advantage of it, , , my goal is to make the car the best it can be..

  20. That photoshop job is great, good on you.
The only thing I would consider changing is.......I would bring the whole headlight surround forward maybe 1" so that the lip of the hood/grill is a little recessed and radius the corners of the grill surround to the same as the lower headlight surround, and only have maybe 1/2" or 1/4" step from the lower headlight surround to the rolled pan so it looks all smoooooottttthhhhhhhh :)

Well thats what I would do anyway!

  21. I wonder what it would look like with the surround to a '56 Olds grille in the middle, or something similar, some rounding of the grille opening edges to mimic the shape of the hooded headlights? Not that the photoshop looks bad, just thinking how can you make it your own.

  22. Jim,

if you wanted to use something a little different for the canted head lights you might consider taking the bezels/doors from a '59 Chevy...I keep looking at the front of the photoshop and thinking the Lincoln quads are a little overwhelming for the sharp lines on the rest of the car...maybe it is just my eye, or it's not quite to scale...just thinking out loud...or on my keyboard
