i've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a suitable location for a gas door on the car, , ,i came up with a few ideas, but in the end, i just wasn't real thrilled with any of them. .i was trying to avoid an opening deckild in the interest of smoothness and flow, but in the end the opening deckild won out...here's a few pictures, , , just getting started, but this will give you a general idea of where i'm heading, , it's gonna be a little tricky, but i think i have it pretty well figured out....

That should work, now figure out how many miles of weld will be on that car when you are done.

Definitely a pita to fab up, but I think you'll be much happier with a functioning trunk in the end. Besides, I think if the whole car was to be sans doors, trunk, etc., it may end up looking too smooth - like you took the easy way out.

Not that I think you ever take the easy way, ha, ha

Are you going to lead everything when you're done? You should be able to set a new record for amount of lead used in a Kustom... Looking great so far!

definitley a big fan of this build, like many of us probably are, thanks for keeping us in the loop. you're like a modern day dr. frankenstein of cars, and i mean that in a good way! just curious, how many different cars have given up their body parts so far to become this masterpiece?

    here's the rundown,,,,probably overlooking a few things,,,it's early,,,lol

56 lincoln: hood section spliced in, pieces of the hood used on either side of the decklid, rolled pan made from decklid

56 olds: wheel openings, quarters, cowl/windshield

    57 studebaker: fins

50 ford: various filler pieces made from sections of the roof, fenders, hood, etc

    58 edsel: dash

    53 buick: side trim

58 lincoln: canted headlights (under consideration)

some unknown 50s sports car: seats

    damn,,,just realized i don't have any caddy or pontiac stuff,,,,not to worry, i have IDEAS,,,,lolol :p:D;)
