you guys have been more help to me than you could possibly know, , , i realize the car has had more rollercoasters than six flags, but in the end, my ultimate goal is to make it the best it can be,,i don't mind changing things (obviously,,lol) along the way if it improves the overall design and flow of the car,,,,,what do you guys think about this?,,,,to me, its a definite improvement in the flow,,just wondering what y'all think,,,,,,,,

i like the door better, but think the lower poriton of the head light needs to taper back to the body. the stop is so abrupt

I like the change on the doors. The old version was the only thing that bothered me about this car. I say go for it. :) Keep up the great work, it looks incredible.

Night and day on the doortops.

And I agree with the comment about the headlights too. Maybe they are a just a bit too high?

Whatever you do it's your car to do it to, and I can understand what you're going through, although I wouldn't have the nerve to do it, but you have got to finish this car. Do it for your sanity as well as ours. I think once you slap that first coat of epoxy primer on there you'll stop cutting and welding.
I love it, as I have a hundred times before.

  9. I like it both ways. Each version looks good in it's own way. Filled back in seems to be taking the car back to more of a "factory" production feel and less of a "one off" coach build.

I LOVE the treatment behind the seats.

That is an awesome undertaking, looks very cool.
I haven't seen the old doors yet, but they look good now.
    Two thumbs up brother!

  12. Love the new door! The old one I always thought detracted from the overall aesthetic of the car.
Oh, and in my opinion, you are crazy, up there with the likes of Plowboy and Littleman!

    Doc.

This morning I was dragg'n to get started and I found this article in Kustomrama's
web site.Very kool story and it is hard to believe all of the kool ideas tht you ran
    through...

    http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?***le=Jim_Laga's_1950_Ford

I've enjoyed going back through history to watch it all over again. Like I've said
in another post, I hope that you never quit chang'n it because I've enjoyed the
ride and I hate roller coasters... The only thing that I didn't like, was the way
the door opening cut outs and what you did to fix it I like it a lot. I love seeing
the front fender dives into the back fender. Very kool!!

You are working on a kustom that will be legendary and how kool is that. Your '50
is timeless and will be talked about for years to come. How is that for preasure to
finish the build. ha, ha, ha,....

Keep it up, she is going to be kool.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

    The doors look alot better.

Now the windsheld looks out of proportion tho, it doesn't flow with the rest of the car. Have you thought about a frameless windsheild?

100% better on the door tops. I like how it flows with the proposed side trim. I think it still has that hollywood custom feel to it. The front headlights are sharp underneath. My thinking is having it look like a studebaker fender graft. There is some famous custom out there that I know about out there that this looked so right on.

knowing that you will smooth the underside of the headlights, i won't bring it up again. the only thing that looks a little out of place to me is the height of the windshield. i think it should be a little bit taller. just a bit.

oh: and if the driver's side door is the one you're going with, i like it a lot.

I like the new revised door a lot better, as long as you can climb over it without smashing your balls on it.

dr j,,,i had the same thought about the buick trim, and have since sold it,,,,the trim will be in the shape of the tape line and be made from br*** half oval stock, and then plated....below that will be expanded metal, the variety of which i have yet to determine,,

i agree on the headlight issue,,,i have a plan for improving the flow on those as well,,,,

I think just about any of the combinations of modifications you have done would have built a cool car. doors look better this way. flare the headlights into the fenders and finish it up.

then go get another one and build the chopped /finned one you had mocked up long ago. I like that one too.
