How about a slide off trunk? I mean, you've not done anything easy to this point!

sure, here's a pic of the general shape.
i need to roll some metal over to meet the inside section of the door (to fill that gap in the pic),,,,,just a mockup at this point, but i'm planning to hinge the door in such a way that it will swing forward, in other words, it will pivot towards the front of the car on an upward arc. i just need to figure out the engineering aspect....;):)

    more bracing added, , ,
and, threw a fender back on to check overall flow,,,
also got this cool little chrome "wing" trim piece, it's around 5' long and adds a subtle touch of chrome to the deck (see closeup)

decided on no trunk. . .
i think it'll add to the overall smoothness and flow....
i've got a really neat chrome fin trim piece (see post on p.2)..
it's approx. 5 ft. long with a neat little fin on the end,,very subtle,,,,,in fact, i built the shape of the deck to fit the trim piece..it will help break up the vast expanse of the deck with a little flash...

  10. Now if you had a english wheel....

    Hey Jim,

Be sure to check out the April 2010 issue of " Collectable Automobile Magazine" article feature on Charles Chayne GM/Buick chief engineer and builder behind the 1951 Buick XP-300 ''dream car''. Great photos and history of the project.
The XP-300 is very TELSTAR-like in line & form.

Dig the trunk on the XP-300.

Jim the Telstar needs a big fat turbine somewhere on it!

What if you did a small curved bustle area just behind the ****pit - like on the XP-300 - and then had the whole rest of that new structure all lift up as one giant trunk lid?
That way you could get your smoothness and also have a giant size trunk that you could do some pretty neat show custom "****tail lounge" type upholstery in. Maybe even hinge it on the side edge.
