    todays update............

added rolled pan, exhaust port, license recess...

mocked up a taillight idea i will most likely end up using (in some form thereof)...the taillight opening will have a concave panel with the taillight floating inside..used a piece of chrome tubing,,a section of chrome exhaust from a norton commando (already had the right bend in it), and a bullet shaped lens on each end...should look really neat all lit up...considering drilling a series of tiny holes in the tube as well,,,but not sure yet,,may be best to keep it kinda simple...

    some pics,,,,,

I have been watching this with mild interest up 'til now, because I have never been a fan of "Radical Customs". But after seeing the K-G nose used for the tail section, I think you've hit one out of the park. Great vision.:)

i have to say i really liked the tailite idea from page one the best, with the grilles filled. i like the way those crazy taillits followed the shoebox windsplits. but iether way i love the whole direction this has taken, great job jim!!! and i think as someone else said if the whole back of the car was sandblasted you wouldnt see the gia, its mostly because it a differant colr that makes it obvious.. oh, and pimpin paint i think we all got your point by now, maybe you could go shit on someone elses work for a while!!!

I love the openings for the tail lights, but not the dingus shaped lights themselves.

These openings would look awesome with some of those nifty cast-to-fit lenses that won the last tech week.

Might be time to look that feller up and get some tips to cast your own.

Gotta be better than the dick shaped version.

love the tailights. honestly when you did the cutout followin the ghia "grilles" i thought the previous version was best, but now that i see this i love it.
For some reason reminds me of the Adonis......
how about drillin those holes in the tubing and have red lights inside it? so that red light comes outta the holes?

funny you should say that,,,that's one of the ideas i've been pondering,,i'm thinking also that the diameter of the chrome tube may need to be a little bigger

    Hey Jim,

Maybe for the rear lights you could use expanded metal like polished stainless in a convex shape to serve as a reflector behind the lamps. Some rings set at right angles to the "Norton-Tube" would add some detail and reflect more light comming off the holes you thought about drilling in the tube. A wire mesh screen over the whole lamp, and framed in a stainless bezel, brushed, polished or chromed would offer defused light kinda early space craft/Star Trek like. The frame could be hammerformed from stainless, or made up from smaller pieces welded together and polished or brushed to a finish that would fit the balance of your trim.................. or not?

    Wow,

Super cool build. Ya know, this is one of those things that if someone told me about it I'd cringe, but when I see the pics it works and it works REALLY well.

Wish I had that sort of skill set... can't wait to see the finished product.

this kinda makes me proud! ahah.something should be done to the openings thou, like a ridge or something, aplain driled hole would look "cheap", if you kno what i mean?
hope to see this go through!

Then they would be long, and wide. The chicks will be drooling and the dudes will be envious!;) Instead of drilling holes in the tube lights, how about louvers with lenses in them?

    yep.....finished and sold it yesterday,,,:D:rolleyes:;)

still working on the left side of the rear,,,duplicating the fin, taillight, exhaust, etc....

a little slow going on the car last week,,,,work has been kinda busy (that's a good thing,,,because i need to buy more steel..:)) and i have not gotten as much done on her as i would have wanted to,,,certainly not enough to be "picture worthy" at this point....

i've got a couple of free days coming up this week, and unless that changes, i plan to have the other side done (tack welded) by the end of this week,,,,

i'll post an update then,,,it's probably time to roll her outside for this round of update pics...

then it's onto the front end styling,,,i've got some pretty crazy ideas bouncing around inside my head,,,,sounds like the game "space invaders" in there :D:D, which i guess is completely appropriate considering the car i'm building,,,:p

Wow, I musn't spend enough time on here! This is the first I've seen of this car! I'm liking what I see!

As for taillights, maybe the brake lights could shine fwd to the concave piece if chromed/polished it would then glow while the brake lights are more concentrated as you have them?

Nah, just do what ever is buzzing around in your head, it's working!

A perfect example of "when all you've got is lemons.................make lemonade". I'm not a huge custom car fan but when one catches my eye/imagination I'm hooked...................and this one has me HOOKED!!
