I've heard that you can get any guage refurbished but noone seems to have any names or numbers so I can get my '51 Plymouth temp guage fixed.
Is there someone who could guide me in the right direction? I would hate to sieze my engine because of this.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  2. you can buy N.O.S. off ebay cheaper than having yours restored. That said, check Ply-Do or www.vapinc.com

    Moparsled,
I appreciate the heads up. I've been checking ebay for a while with no luck but will keep my eyes open.

    Thanks again,

Auto Instruments. All they do is restore gauges.

Don't use an NOS piece--NOS pieces usually were laying around on dealers' shelves because the part didn't work or fit. Electrical pieces are the worst for this. I've seen people spend the really lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng dollar on NOS stuff, only to have it be ****pier than the original pieces they had on hand!
Don't know what he charges for a rebuild, but like you said, it's going to be cheaper than a seized engine.
I've seen enough of his work to know that he's getting all the gauges in my '54 Buick. And I've already spoken to him about the temp gauge. He can do it (it has a capilary tube that I killed), and my fuel gauge. I don't remember what he quoted me, but I DON'T remember screaming into my pillow, so it couldn't have been bad.
