Hey guys, a while ago I bought a complete temperature gauge unit from MAC's (see the picture) for my 36 Ford. The sender that I have to screw into the head is too long and I can not tighten the screw. I want to keep the original Instruments working, so what did you do with your edelbrock heads? At the moment I have an aftermarket sender with an additional gauge under the dash, but I want to get rid of it. Thanks for your ideas, Conrad
Do you have the female receiver that the gauge nut screws into? The gauge doesn't screw directly into the head. The head only has pipe threads and the gauge nut has standard threads with a lip on the bulb that seats on a special inverted flare. Many places sell these special fittings. alchemy is correct. There is a brass adapter needed that goes from NPT to standard thread pitch with a tapered seat to seal the Capillary tube crush flange. When one is installed I have never had the tube bottom out.
You need this. I just used one to adapt the factory Temp gauge in my 39 to a small chevy intake. Auto Meter part# 2270 Speedway shows its chrome but its brass. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Auto...-Adapter-Fitting-Brass-1-2-In-NPT,113675.html
Thank you guys, I am happy! The other sender I have goes directly into the head, this is why I thought it is the same with the one freom MAC's.
