I tried to do a search on this, and I remember a few years ago, a few people got holed up in a shit box motel. I booked a room in Temple, and now kinda thought I should have asked here first,...where is a good hotel to stay?
Good=car, and all my contents will be on the trailer when I wake up the next morning.

(No, I'm not camping, it too hot, and I am too fat and old for that.) :)

You can Google up "hotels in Temple" and you'll find just about all the chains are represented. You're most likely to wind up in a shit box if you shop exclusively on price ... you're gonna pretty much get what you pay for, Dude!

But don't "lock in" on Temple. It's just about as close if you look for something in Salado; it's a nice little town with a good many B & B's available. Finally, use Google Maps to check out all the little towns near Academy - Little River (the actual villages closest to the drag strip). Betcha some of them have decent, affordable Mom-n-Pop motels.

Sorry,... my "search" reference on my post was meant, that I tried to do a search on the HAMB, to see if the topic had been discussed. I went to the Kontentals web page for DOTD, and booked a room at a hotel referenced on their page.
