I set up a new user name as my not-so-original one was pretty damn close to the handle of one of the vets on the site. Gee, losing my 3 post rating is such an injustice...

Here's a re-hash of what I posted in case anyone wants the scoop on who the heck I am. I may post an update on the regular board and would like to hear from the local flatheader contingent if only to get the ol' F-you. Hopefully I can contribute from my own experiences.

    ----------------
Stats on ride: ’32 Ford pickup. Body all orig except for cheap steel grille shell. Pickup originally bought by my Dad in the Sixties, from somewhere between T.O. and Mammoth Mountain- location sworn to secrecy. Nope, not done with the fenders and hood yet- they’re in my garage where some folks say they should stay. Yep, it’s a driver. 276 cu in flattie, T-5 tranny, 9” rear from a ’68 Bronco. 40’s juice brakes and 4” drop axle up front, but I’m using the original spring with all leaves ‘cause the roads here suck- Lotsa $$$ in my Williamson county and they can’t fix the flippin’ roads. In back- coilovers and triangulated P&J 4-bar cause it rides good and you guessed it… the roads here suck. Vega type steering- cause it handles quick for dodging soccer moms and drunken rednecks. If you’ve ever driven through here, you know what I mean- duck and cover. Motor has old Edelbrock SU-359 3x2 intake with progressive link on 97’s, factory relieved block, Offy heads, and a cam that’s pretty much a beefed-up Winfield SU-1A with slightly more lift and duration but same overlap. Got lucky and found some original Fenton headers. Converted generator to 12V neg ground, running a Mallory electronic distributor. Yes Virginia, there is a Mallory electronic that works.

Stop reading now and save yourself from death by boredom…

Too late hoss! Like my ride, I am originally from SoCal but have lived in Mid Tennessee near Nashville for a few years. Think Beverly Hillbillies in reverse. Life in general and especially the people (except for driver types mentioned above) are awesome in Mid TN, but don’t tell anyone- they’ll all start moving here and screw it up worse than I did. Like Oregon, we have our share of SoCal ex-pats. If you do come here, there is one thing you must never forget: don’t believe the guy that says when the moonshine burns clear blue it’s really smooth and you won’t get a hangover. As an idiot newbie to Tennessee I believed that bullshit and of course the next morning I sold more Buicks than Tiger Woods.

When I’m not thrashing the pickup I’m in a martial arts studio because it’s about peace, harmony, and flogging 20-somethings until they’re as old and ugly as I am. Hey, how old are you? Just kidding…

Great board- lots of knowledge. Hope sometime I can help someone out based on my limited experience.

Come grab a seat in the garage, have a cold brew, and let me tell you a story about my Rottweiler, a metal detector, and the neighbor lady’s missing gold cross.

There you go- If you’re not already asleep just try to read it again.

Welcome again. Love the current colors, the red pops against the greyish-blue. Never noticed that before.

Thanks! Just my procrastination in body work- messed around with reds on the frame and small parts, rest is primer. That way nobody mistakes me for a street rodder:eek: .

Hey, this shows you how often I'm lookin back for replies. Need to check email too.

Where 'bouts you at? I'll try to make the Bellevue Cruise next Saturday, or maybe the Backyard Burger one in Franklin. I'm actually closer to Bellevue but either is an easy ride.

Thanks for the compliment regarding the flatty. Most weekends I have a regular date with the local 'service center' aka trash dump and recycle center. The ol' timers who work there always get a kick out of it and love that big cam flathead 'potato-potato-potato...'.

Gray primer is a color too...it just doesn't get any respect. Someone is always covering it up. Welcome from an Okie gasser-guy. Ron.
