It rides pretty good, it’s going to be a rattle trap with the doors but other than that pretty good. I did get a little death wobble on the first drive so I think I need to tow in the front tires a bit. Finished up the trans cover too IMG_8743.jpeg IMG_8742.jpeg

Man that is looking really good!! The doors (along with other parts) on my Chevy roadster need so much work. I bought an english wheel a while ago to reskin them and unfortunately it's still on the to-do list. Somewhere along the line the doors were reversed and also want to un-do that as well.

It’s all together id just drive it and slowly work on parts here and there. That’s my plan. Got any more pics of the roadster!?

You're probably right on the toe-in, 1/8 inch max on bias ply tires. Your caster angle is built-in to your Ford crossmember, you can check this also - mine is at 7 degrees. Wondering if you have a front pan hard bar with your Vega steering box?

I also noticed that you plan on installing that windshield swing out setup that's adjustable like on the Model A's - just what I'm planning to do. I rode in an old friends Model A coupe and although this setup is noisy, it brings in a nice breeze to our non air-conditioned hot rods! And the cowl vent can only help as well... When you install your setup, would you take some detailed photos to see how this is done?

Yea I have a front panhard bar, I just gotta do some adjusting on it we just kinda messed with it before the body was on the frame and left it.

oh no in that picture that’s for the the truck. The windshield is going to be glued in like factory so I won’t have any of the swinging stuff. Idk how you’d do it unless you make a frame for the glass?

  8. they were never tilt out. just installed with a gasket and held in with the garnish moulding. the generation before the windshield cranked up a couple inches.

As I had explained earlier, my 1934 Chevy Master coupe came with a wood kit. The wood looked older (but not 1934 old). I was planning to use the wood to frame up the car and get it squared with doors properly aligned. Then brace it. Things are going well, but I’m getting the impression that some of this wood is for a 1934 Chevy Standard, not a Master. The B pillar door frame is the same general shape, but has different cutouts which suggest it is not for a Master 5 window coupe. The A pillar door frame fits like it should.

Door lines up pretty well. Now I just need to find that rocker panel.
Where did I put it? Hmmm.

Rocker fabrication will be a challenge. Compound curves. If I fail to make decent rockers from new sheet metal I will patch the ones I have. 1934 Chevy Master coupe

The vertical part is completely rotten, but there are large pits and numerous pin holes on the horizontal section.
I’m up for a challenge and will try to fabricate it from one piece of 18g. The compound curve will need both stretching and shrinking.
If I fail I can at least use the lower 1/2 and just patch (replace) the upper half. That wouldn’t be too difficult.

"SOMEHOW"? More likely that your hot rod is unique and stands out from all of the Fords in that show. A welcome entry for some of the past entries in the Round Up! Great job brother! Now let's see some pics!

    Today, I was the termite!
I had to drill holes in the wood until it was weak enough to break apart. Seems the door outer skin was placed after the inside wood skeleton was formed. There were screws heads covered by the door skin that had no access for removal.
    . . . . but y’all already knew that.

Seeing the trials and tribulations in this thread make me aware of how lucky I was to find my car with the wood already replaced. Kudos to you folks that are building your wood pieces yourselves.
Tip a cold one on me!

Yes, The wooden framing is assembled then the sheet metal is mostly tacked onto it. It should come off the same way. This is what makes Chevy guys tough! :D

Snoop74, I saw your coupe in the background of videos from the Roundup. Once it was wrapped in plastic.

I put a tarp over it once it started to rain on Saturday haha. Trying to protect inside and keep my carbs from getting soaked.

I didn't think my pickup leaked until I drove it to the Roundup several years ago.

Fabrication day. Bought some steel and it got me motivated. The passenger side rear body to frame bracket was too badly rusted to use again. The driver side is in decent shape. I used 11 and 12 gauge steel, like the original.

Are you going to slot the holes like the original? That allows for alignment adjustments. Good work!
