No, it was a running car until several months ago. It is now stripped down to the frame for detailing, painting, and final assembly.

Got more of the floor framed today. I’m pleased with the results. I pie cut and then welded a dog leg at the very rear of the beam that forms the door threshold. I got the angle nearly perfect. I test fit it and then made a copy for the other side.
These are currently just clamped in place so I can fine tune the position.
The B pillar will be supported right about where the dog leg bends to line up with the rear beam.

My good friend bought a 1934 Chevy 1.5 ton truck October 2023. A few months later he bought a partial wood kit for the cab of that 34 and the guy said he could make the wood kit for my 34 Master coupe. Here’s the contact info.

The only piece of wood that I bought for my '31 - the main floor from Auto Wood Restoration, way back in '95. I've been wanting to replace the window regulator wood boards (and regulators), which are badly in need to be replaced, to no avail. Possibly the wood for my roof would be a future acquisition down the line. Here's that link that Jay had provided for us from his buddy's '34 truck:

I tack welded the floor beams together and I’m happy how things lined up. See video link below.
Since I’ve never done anything this extensive, I need some guidance. How do I go about attaching the flooring pieces to the chassis? I think the original wood was bolted to holes in the upper flange of the frame. I’m thinking I will need some sort of body mount bracket with bushings. Here’s a video of my work from today. LINK HERE

I tested my metal fab skills today. If I get a report card it will be a C+ for rocker fabrication. I’ll make a second attempt another day. I sure wish I had a planishing hammer.
Anyway, today’s finished product would be acceptable, but I’m thinking I can do better. Here’s the video. VIDEO LINK

  10. Back when I did the 34 I used 2"x3" 3/16" wall rectangle tubing for the main sub rail. This shows the sub rail and Apost with the new door hinge pockets. You can see both sides as well as other stuff. Don't know if that helps or not. I made standoffs and welded the to the outer side of the rails then took a 1/4" drill and went through the sub rail and standoff for a pilot hole. Next, I did a 1" hole saw through just the top of sub rail and a 3/8" through the rest for body to frame mount bolts. Once the floor pans were in place I used a 1' plastic plug to cap the access hole.
Couple photos of the Door inner structure also. Feel free to ask about anything you see. I think I remember most of it and I have other photos. This is a 34 Standard 2 door sedan. If anyone is in need, I have a full door wood kit for both doors available.

Thanks PnB. I am not 100% sure I know what a sub-rail is. I’m still learning how to decipher terminology used when building a hot rod.
I did a little internet search.
Is a sub-rail the same thing as the beam(s) that form the floor framework?

  12. Yes. Go to the very top photo in the 6 I posted above. The new iron that the A post is welded to and passes to the rear of the car through the actual door opening is the Sub-Rail. There's one on each side and starts at the firewall and goes to where the rear kick up starts. As I said prior, there is Zero wood in this car. I believe in stock form that piece was 2"x8" solid beam and everything mounting to it was mitered into it and screwed on.

Sometimes you get lucky. Today was my day.
Just bought this for the coupe. I’m thrilled. I sure hope it looks as good on the coupe as I have pictured in my mind.

Thanks! I’m going to try and shoot it Saturday. I’ve been sanding on it, 133 louvers or so giving me finger cramps

No. I have a 1965 SBC 283 bored 0.060 with a 268H cam. Not a lot of HP but should be just right for this coupe. This new purchase will serve as a hood ornament if I can’t use it as a radiator cap.

I don’t know if the old radiators were pressurized , so idk if that’ll work if you have an aluminum radiator ? Mine is just an ornament too I run a big washer under it to keep it in place. IMG_0326.jpeg

  20. the old original radiators were not pressurized. I have a new radiator with the cap under the hood and have the mascot bolted to the shell also.
