This weeks pictures. It's really starting to take shape. I can't thank Roadburner1 and his father enough. Mad fabrication skills for sure. The push is on to finish rough fab. and tear it apart for final assembly. Gary

Thanks for the comments on the 30 Chevy. I have another question that might seem stupid...how does the Chevy emblem remove from a 1930 Chevy grill shell? I don't want to mess it up trying to remove it for paint (primer). Thanks, Gary

Doug, I'd have a hard time doing much to your '30. For one thing it is too good to cut up and for another I'd be driving the crap out of it. I'd for sure be cruising around looking for stock Model As. Then I'd play with the stock engine and go after the Banger boys.

Always liked the look of the early Chevy. I will admit in the 70's the wood problems scared me away from a few and I ended up falling in love and owning several 37 Chevy cars and trucks.
If it can help anyone with a build, I have a very nice set of original 33 Chevy coupe floor pans. There is an ad posted here in the HAMB classified.
Shoot me a PM if interested. I am also going to Spring Carlisle and can deliver them there.

Found this today at a wild boar farm, the guy said make an offer, think it is worth while? Motor and trans are in it, doors and other bits and pieces are piled inside.

I know the 28 and 29 emblems are pushed in from the front . they are two pieces a round metal piece and the ceramic emblem and they are glued together. I usually get a socket that fits inside the round portion and lightly tap it out towards the front of the car. I hope this helps....John

That looks to be a 28 chevy 4 door sedan and not too far from what I once started with. It could be fun.

He figured it was a 28, but wasn't sure. He said he doesn't want much for it, I am going back to buy 2 rifles, so maybe if I give him asking price for the rifles he will throw the car in. He just sees a cool looking pile of junk.

I know this carb isnt my best option but wanted to keep it original. May switch the manifolds and go to a downdraft carb in the future

They are in no specific order other than KC and Classic state they do a range of Chevy cars and trucks that includes your '31. All are highly recommended by VCCA, AACA, Hemmings, and many Chevy guys. Entler has probably been in the business longer than the others and has recently talked about retirement. Penn-Dutch doesn't do many GM patterns as that is Entler's specialty, who is right down the road from him. But, he can match original wood and may be able to get patterns from Entler, if he retires. Don't know much about New Era Motors, but they are on your side of the country and may be more accessible for you. Best wishes.

Does anyone here have an extra '28 front crossmember? Possibly '25- '28?

I have a 27 you are welcome to

  25. 1928 frame is the same as a 29-30. The frame was ready for the six cylinder, before the engines were ready.

Maybe mine is earlier because I have a '29 frame and it is different. It is shorter in the front. The driver side spring perch is right at the steering box mount. r2c1 is getting a picture of the '27 that he has so we'll see. Thanks for the information.

A friend showed up at our Inliner meeting yesterday with a hood and a radiator shell for my '26 roadster. Also r2c1 has shipped a '27 front crossmember that should be here any day. I'm running out of excuses. You guys are going to force me to build something.

  29. Found this picture from a Southern California rod event on another site, thought I'd post the lone early Chevrolet photo. Nice roadster.

I was able to pick up the '27 crossmember that r2c1 sent to me. It does not match the holes in my frame but I can make it work. The guy I got the frame from said there were 2 different '27 cross members. Well it was a 50/50 chance. I think this one will do with a little work and I can not complain about the price.
