heres my 31 essex super six rumbleseat coupe. its a stocker, i bought it in non running condition, motor in boxes, i had every intention of sticking either a late model 4 banger or v8 in it when i bought it, never thought id have the original 6 running. now i feel it would almost be a shame to hotrod it, so i either hot rod it or sell it to some purist. i have begun collecting parts, rover v-8 2x2 offy intake with 2g carbs, bell housing, flywheel ,s10 t5 trans and an a-body 3.55 sure grip 8 3/4 rear. i have to decide what i want to run for tires and rims, and figure out what to do with some front brakes.

:eek:Here is my first Hudson, a '50 Pacemaker coupe that I bought in March 2000; which is also my avatar picture. This is after an F-4 tornado destroyed my house and shop in May 2003 in OKC. The cinder-block shop wall fell in and crushed the rear of the car, and pushed the front sheet metal over 15" from the original position. The roof was "V"eed all the way back to tha package shelf, and the decklid was similarly damaged. All of the glass would still roll up and down. The rear quarters were about the only body pieces that were relatively undamaged.

I sold to a HET member in southern Kansas, who parted it out pretty thoroughly for his '50 coupe.

I had Pat at Wilcap make up the adapter. Everything fit great and I now have about 4000 miles on this setup and no trouble as of yet. It uses everything Chevy from the adapter back. I had to use a hydraulic throw-out bearing, because there was no room for clutch linkage around the steering arm.

I'm sure he could. Getting it out to you would be the hard part. It is pretty fragile.

Hey Robert, digging on your SS:D (Super Six),sounds like your clutch is
stuck. Somewhat common for Hudsons that sit for extended periods. If
you do a search on the site below you'll find many ways to deal with your clutch.
Pick one that makes sense to you and give it a go.Seems the corks on the
clutch disc try to weld themselves to the flywheel after the clutch fluid
dries out from sitting. Lots of ideas on clutch fluid over there too.
Good luck and keep us updated

1936 Hudson, Not mine, I worked on the doors and hood for a time. Unfortunatly the owner took it to the custom shop I use to work at instead of my current employer, Learn from others mistakes never take a restoration to a custom shop, you never save money, and it never works out.

As Far as I know it is in pieces in a garage, in the same state as the last pic. Cringe…

To see a 1929 Hudson and a 1935 Packard go here,

    http://www.customsandclassics.com/restor.html

This is my current employer the restorations they perform are amazing, very meticulous, They do customs too and that is the department I work in, however they keep them separate from the classics. Hopefully they will allow me to post pics of my metal fabrication later.

    Cheers,
    Andy

Patrick, and guys...............thanks for starting this thread, brings back a lot of good memories, my dad bought a new 51 hudson Hornet, I was 10 at the time and can still remember the sound of that car.. we travel from Grapevine Tx to the Denison Tx area a lot back then..

I have always love the hudson, hard to beat the look of the dash and the steering wheel in those cars.........

not real sure why I dont have one... I was offered a trade awhile back on one..........but..........

    Geee,

Between the Hudson Social group here, and my new-found obsession with HA/GR cars........

    I might become a regular.

Here's a pic of my '49 Super Six club coupe. 308 w/single lever 3 speed. 3.07 Hydramatic rear end. The barn find of my life. Original paint and all the dents and dings that go with a life on rural roads.

A shot of the what's under the hood before it got there.

I also have a Super Wasp club coupe that gets the beejezus driven out of it.

Here's a tidbit owned by my buddy Ralph, PaceRacer50 on the HET board. 7x'd 308 with the McCulloch. His is a fixed ratio. It was my intention to do a milder 4.5 psi setup on my '49, using the variable ratio setup. Ralph was going to turbo his for street strip use (heavy on the strip), and I talked him into the McCulloch - being as he already had one on hand and I already had a handle on its setup. Info and hardware passed down to me from an older HET member who raced McCulloch'd Hornets in the mid/late 50's.

See ya'll in the Hudson Social Club.

Most people commenting on this car at the Riot, who don't have Hudson knowledge, already thought this car was a custom. At least 5 different times I heard it.

Well At least I can be the first Jet. This was my great grandmothers car. This is my grandparents in the early 80s. My granddad drinking a PBR. "WHAT A POSER!" HA HA Its cool having grandparents that were cooler than hell for being just who they are. My grandfather has no idea or understands why I think he was and is a Bad ass.

The jet was wrote off years ago. It really is pretty bad. Dad had cut it up along time ago to try a gasser project. I ended up with it and put it on a S10 frame and built a nice high compression 4.3 for it. It has a 700r4 with a 10 inch lock up converter and 4-56 gears on a new auburn possi. If my math is right it will turn 2600 at 65. I hope it will drill most tuners and stock 5-0s and be able to drive it from South Carolina to Indianapolis. We will just have to see.

Gorgeous cars, I want y'all to know that. Not a vehicle in this thread that doesn't make me grin.

TheKid's '49, just makes me drool, convulse involuntarily, and wish I had the the body talent and vision he does. My favorite Hudson rod by far. Alas, I'm a gearhead, motor man, and seem to get my jollies from the mechanicals.

I drove the '49 to the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green and had the pleasure of meeting up with the son of Rudy Bennett purely by accident. Rudy has helped me along in the Hudson performance area for a long time for which I am deeply grateful. Randy, his son, is an AMC fanatic and had the fastest AMC built for a while. I was prodding Randy to build a Jet gasser, with an AMC V8. He already had pictures of some Jets, with the same idea. So, hold on you Jet fans - you may have a hero coming up through the ranks.

Some pictures of Rudy's Ride. A turboed 262 powered '46 Hudson sedan. Like me Rudy dislikes the '46/'47 grilles, and devised his own interpretation using all Hudson parts.

I reckon this engine is exceeding Rudy's expectations.

My 49 Sedan. Stock...leaving it as it is. Needs paint but there is something nice about be able to put a beer down on the hood and not worry about scratches. Foe some reason this car has way more balls than the Brougham.
