Im throwing around the idea of renting a spot for a hamb meet car show and swap meet. Free for hambers. Just wondering who would be interested. maybe do a raffle just to pay for the spot. whos in?maybe at kennedale for drags as well?(with ryans blessing of course) just trying to get some local stuff going....( by the way im a longtime lurker not trying to promote anything)
Yeah, get a couple of guys together and plan a small show. Talk to the guys at Kennedale and see if you could do the whole think right there. Their schedule shows "Street Wars" every Sunday from 5-9, with stuff before it on occasion. Maybe you could get the track until 4 on a weekend with nothing else going on. They can charge the $10 or so like a test and tune night, and you can charge a small fee for swap meet spaces. There's a ton of HAMBer's in Texas that I bet would come out for something like this. I'd sure like to go run more often against old hot rods!
It would be nice to do something like that at Temple/Academy also. I'm sure I'd make the drive to Dallas once in a while once my car is running.
what if we did it in temple/academy little river on October 7, we could call it "Day of the Drags".There is plenty of events going on here in the metroplex. Like everything else, it is so much easier to say "let's do something here" rather than do something here. just start showing up at shows all over and take them over.
If we do that, I only get to run one day. I want more people to do more cool events so I can run more days! But yeah, come down to Little River for the Day of the Drag Races. http://www.kontinentals.com/drags06/
Oh, plus Kennedale is 1/8 mile. So it's different. I think an 1/8th mile event would be fun because it would even out a lot of the cars. More about drivers cutting good lights, hooking up and shifting right that pure power. It'd be my only chance to run door to door with DW, Bass, and the rest of the fast guys. Well, maybe grille to taillights, but I'd be closer in the 1/8 than 1/4!!!
Sounds like a plan!!! There is a nice little 1/8th mile track about 30 mins outside of Dallas called Redline. I actually have a few people that know the owners out there, and if we could get a decent amount of interest I am sure they would have no problem checking into it for us...
So is this going to become the "Tejas Boys" chapter of the HAMBsters? Maybe with a new gathering each month, in a different part of the state? See where I'm headed?
Just a note....Texas Motorplex (Ennis) and Texas Raceway (Kennedale) have Fun & Grudge nights on Fridays. Yellow Belly Drags (Denton) has Fun & Grudge on Sundays.
Yellow Belly is NOT in Denton. I think it's called Sanger Raceway....or something.... also, don't go to Yellow Belly. Unless you like getting shot.
Sounds like there is more then enough interest... I will get on the horn tomorrow and see what kinda deal Redline can strike up...
So are ya'll saying that now you have to take a gun to the track? I can't tell you how much that sucks.
