Hey isn't Kennadale a 1000 ft track, not a big deal but its just a bit longer than an 1/8 mile,... anyway its a kewl track and has good rep. As 53 ash said count us in
I thought it was 1/8, but I've never been there. If you pick someplace in South Dallas or Ft. Worth area, it'll be easier for Austin and S.A. folks to make it.
spoke with chopped54 last night, we are going to join forces and get this going for sure. viva la tejas. if we are going to do it we might as well go big.
Our Day of the Drags is Oct. 7. Hunnert Car Pileup is Oct. 14. Halloween is the weekend of the 28th. Pistons and Paint is Nov. 11. So, Oct. 21 and Nov. 4 look like the best weekends coming up soon. Or after PnP in early December. May be chilly by then. Who's gonna call Kennedale and start setting this up?
Yeah, it might be as low as 85 degrees by then! If there's racing involved, the track will have to replace their timing equipment with a calendar if I run! :O
I just sent the GM (Dave) of Texas Raceway (Kennedale) an email asking him for information on what we need to do to make this happen....I'll let ya guys know what he says.
Ok guys, I just got an email back from the President of the Texas Raceway in Kennedale. Here's what she had to say..... October 7th or a November date may be possible. Our bracket program runs thru October (the 7th the only exception). We usually charge $2500 for 5 hours. That includes gate and race crew and tower. It also includes insurance and ambulance. Now, you mention possibly connecting with an existing race. We race on Street legal cars and bikes on Sunday's. We open at 5pm and run from 5:30 - 9pm. Depending on what you are looking for it would be a much more economical way to go. Let me know your thoughts and I hope we can come up with something that would for you and your group. Keep in mind that November 4th and early November are very popular dates and we have several groups considering them. Hope this helps. Cindi"
2500.00/ $20.00 gate fee = 125 cars. If we cant do that between swap meet space, entry fee, and concessions amy be even shirts something is wrong. Besides it aint to make money just to have some fun. I am still in either way you want to go, I would even through in 50.00 just to help too
Or 2500= 75 carsx $20=$1500 + 100non racers x $10= $1000 75 cars racing might even be a stretch for a first time deal. But you should be able to make some $$$ from swap meet spots and tshirts. I think the track will keep any concessions. Is there a club up there that would sponsor it? $2500 plus expenses is a lot for one person to risk if it's a bust. Dont' know how it would be, but there's always the risk. Oh, and Oct. 7 is probably not the best date. We'll be racing at Little River that day.
I think Nov. 18 seems like a good date. It gives us a weekend to recouperate from PnP. If it's that weekend, I'm in. If I blow my car up by then, I'll at least come spectate. Otherwise, tell that Bass kid that I'm gonna blow the paint right off his little HEMI coupe!
Looks like Nov is the best for track availability, if we decide quick. Can we get the turn-out the weekend before Thanksgiving? I guess we could have HAMB instead of turkey this year .
Count us in too, let us know when and were. sounds like a blast. if you want to do shirts we can help arrange that and if i am feeling nice i might foot the bill for them. let me know if i can help.
It's cool. I just don't know you well enough to know you were kidding. I was hoping so. A catchy name for it would help people remember it, though.
I hope we can organize something like this in Sacramento...sounds like you guys have a GREAT thing goin here!Goodluck.
After reading everything I still don't know whats happening or when. Maybe cause kinda I'm slow. I got $50 bucks though, ready for something. Am I bringing a car?or am I bringing a race car, or am I bringing parts to sell? I think I'm going to Kennedale on November 17th, but I ain't sure. I also ain't supossed to ask for the Texas Boy's. Maybe somebody can put it all together on one piece of paper that tells all for us dummies whats what and what's not. It can't be me cause I can't even type let alone draw and get it on a computer.
Here's the run down so far..... 18 guys say they'll be there x 10 = $180 4 guys say they'll throw in $50 = $200 Brings us to a grand total of $380 $2500-380 = we're only $2120 short I don't have that kinda change in my ashtray to cover this? Anybody else? We need some funds. Maybe pre-register, a sponsor maybe? The alternative is to just have a get-together on sunday before the "Street legal" racing. But that would mean no swap and stuff and we'd have to race with the tunerz and muscles. Anybody else have some ideas about how to make this happen?
Have you tried sponsorship yet?? Maybe get some of the HAMB Alliance members to help out with some donations, and put the names on the T-shirts. I'll definitely be there, even if it is two weeks after PnP, and another 8 hours on the road for me. hehehe Oh...and please don't ever refer to us as the "Tejas Boyz" again. We're not puttin' NOS on our '88 Honda Civics.
I'd like to go, but I lost my job of 8 years yesterday. So, I'm not quite sure where I'll be standing come Nov. Count me in as a mabe? No race, just mingle and show off my blond girl. O. But I'm with Buzzard. I can't go to an event that uses a "Z" in place of an "S". You'll need to work on that.
