It was a joke! Ok, a bad one, but still a joke. Scottybaccus said.... and yes, I took the liberty with the "Z" as a joke.....my bad. It'll never happen again. And will definitely not put it on the flyer.
I'm in .. whomever is taking the lead on this PM me and let me know how to proceed ..Maybe we can take the dream to reality
Not sure who the lead is....I was checking with Texas Raceway and I believe chopped54 and trump where checking with Redline. Haven't heard anything from them though.
Cedar Creek raceway! Cheaper and plenty of room! I think it would be a good location for people to get to. 2cents worth.
Looks like Trump and Chopped54 are taking the lead. Let us know, guys, what date works and what track works best. Then we can start solidifying everything else.
Ok , well if someone wants to get it planned, on paper, help lined up , etc. sometime type of organization , profits to charity ,etc.. I'll get the needed funds to make it happen .. if anyone wants to do the work invloved, let me know
You tha man! Looks like we have the backing guys. Let's solidify this. That's a good idea with the "Profits to charity", especially with this being about the Thanksgiving time. Event could be called "Give'em The Bird" and donate to families needing Thanksgiving dinner.
I like that idea allot !! Or we could start a yearly "scholarship" to some younger person to send them to a tech school to learn a trade instead of getting in trouble PAY IT FORWARD !
Just be careful about the "Profits to Charity" thing. I heard of a couple events in the Carolinas where they designated the "proceeds" going to ________ charity. Well, _________ charity found out/figured out that the event brought in $xx,000.00. But the event only gave them a check for $x,000.00.... which was everything they made after paying for what it took to put on the show (rent the space, print flyers, etc.). So then _______ charity sued the organizers of the event saying they shorted the charity (which wasn't true). There were 2 different events that had nearly identical stories... with different charities. (One was a family with a terminally ill child.) What I'm getting at is that you should be very careful to state that what goes to the charity is the PROFITS (which might be $0.00) after what it costs to run the show. Anyway, I'd be in for helping stuff envelopes or handing out flyers or doing t-shirt art or whatever.
Quick search pulled up the NorthTexasFoodBank . Also, MealsonWheels is a good charity. Don't know if you're really going to make much money on this. Expecially the first year. Big Dad, if you're fronting most or all of the $$$, the decision seems like yours as far as any profits. Scholarship is very cool, but then you have to decide who the recipient is. Can lead to politics if the event takes off. I like the "Give 'em the Bird" idea.
Every ballon I send up, you pop !! But I'm sure all that is true http://www.msgr.ca/msgr-2/festivus%2004.htm need speakers, click on "human fund" Seinfeld bit about charity --

I know that we have a shit load of guys around the area to suppurt the effort. Lets here from you
Don't get yourself deluded, carshows are not easy. You want easy? Just throw a Texas BBQ for HAMBer's and make it where everybody brings something. I was the accessories chairman for the MCA 30th anniversary for the Mustang at Charlotte, swag chairman for the Carolina Regional Mustang Club, helped throw alot of car shows. They take time and lots of planning. If you are serious then keep going, if not...
That could be cool....any of you guys in the DFW area have room for a Texas BBQ? I'm only an an acre.
