5444. I paid way too much for a pair of 32 license plates, could have bought one for $25. Guess if it passes I will have a pretty plate hanging in my shop.
I don't run a front plate on most my cars, and every freaking time I went down HWY6 I'd get pulled over for that exact thing. count was up to 6 by the time I moved back to Dallas.
I didn't think we needed a front plate? I don't think my Jeep has ever had one, hell, I don't think new jeeps even come with a place to put a front plate. Oh well.
#5506 I have never run a front plate on ANY of my cars (late model or classic)... The last 3 new cars that I have bought from the dealers are all running a back plate only.... What sucks is that when I bought and restored my '49 plates, I had to do both of them in order to get them approved, but then in the end I only use one plate... HC
'Antique' vehicles in Texas don't require front plates. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/msb/txmclaws.htm#Chapter%204 "(l) Notwithstanding any other section of this code, a vehicle issued plates under Subsection (a) shall be required to display only one license plate, which is to be attached to the rear of the vehicle."

[/ QUOTE ] Hmmmm, then I wonder why they (DMV) INSISTED that I have both plates for them to inspect in order to get registration??? go figgure.... HC
You gotta have the good pair of plates to get them registered unless they were originally issued as singles... like dealer plates. Since TX didn't repeat plate numbers, making us register the pair prolly prevents the chance of the same plate number being assigned to two cars - kinda makes sense. But once you register the pair, you only gotta run the rear one. Seems like this should add some additional leverage to the petition... TX already agrees that one plate is good enough for street-legal antique vehicles.
