take a look at this 32 ford pick up. it was built by a original road rocket in wellington texas. the work was done in the early 70's and it was sold sometime in 76-78. about 7 to 10 years ago we heard a story it was in waco tx. and was unchanged and had been hardly driven since it was sold.
the family of the builder is searching for this truck and want to bring it back to the road rocket club!

    Bob,

I was sure that I knew which truck you were talking about until I compared your pictures with the one I was thinking of. Now, I'm not so sure.

I thought that the truck in the pictures was the truck owned by a family friend of mine that lives in Temple, TX. But he's had the truck since the late '50s and bought it when it still had the original 4 cyl B motor in it. It went through a couple different motors including an Olds, and finally ended up with a small-block Ford.

The fact that it still looks almost exactly like this, and that it has hardly been driven since the early 80's, if at all...is correct. In fact, the last time I saw it at a rod run was probably about 1983, and I rode in the back of it (I was about 5 yrs old). I know exactly where it is...and of course it is not for sale at any price.

I'll post a couple of pics to show what I'm talking about.

This '32 now has a camper shell on it identical to the one you posted a pic of, and the guy has a Mullins trailer that could have had flames on it at one time. There are a few subtle differences between the two (mainly the pass. car grille shell and headlights), but my dad says that the owner made lots of little changes as he was driving it...so it could be the same truck.

Do you know when the pics you posted were taken?

If this isn't the truck, then I don't know where it is. And that means that it probably isn't in Waco anymore, because I know where almost all the old cars in Waco are located. But then again... [IMG] [IMG]

bass, that is unbelievable how close the two trucks are! but they are not the same. the pictures i posted were taken in aug of 1976 before it was sold. we also think they were taken in waco at a rod run. the story about it being in waco was told to the family of the builder by a man that was going to get a phone number to the persent owner . but before he got the number to him the guy died and the lead was lost. maybe the guy thought the truck you posted was the same one and never knew where the real truck was!

  7. What's up with the NSRA 1 plate?
It is wild how close the two trucks are.
I have seen old coverage of rod runs in the 70's and more than a few pickups had camper shells on the back.
