Texas plates question.

    Anyone know the rules regardings using model year plates on your car in Texas? For example 1955 texas plate on a 1955 model year car. Thanks!

    As long as they pass inspection at tax office there easy to run you have to have both front and back. unless you can find a dealer plate !!!

    You have to decide if you want to register as Antique Auto or Classic Auto. Both allow you to run year-of-manufacture plates once the plates are approved as legible and they must be registed as a front-rear pair unless originally issed as a single plate (eg, dealer plate).

    Antique - supposed to drive vehicle for 'public-interest' events only, like parades, shows, etc..., but never had any problems. No inspection required, and registration is once every five years. No windshield stickers. Only have to run the rear plate.

    Classic - Same plate requirements as above. No real limits on vehicle use, but annual registration and safety inspection required (and windshield stickers). I believe you are supposed to run both front-rear plates.
