I have a 59 el camino that I have been rebuilding past couple of years. I might be forced to show up with the crack front gl*** and some rust. I am registered for the Texas round up and was wondering how tacky is it to show up with a cracked front gl*** ? Considering the cost ***ociated with the front gl*** and finding someone I can feel comfortable with to install an expensive peice of gl***. I also was going to make a metal bed cover to cover the rusted metal in the hidden compartment. should I bother ? I was going to throw a quick suede paint on it to ay least help make it look better. If anyone out there once to comment please do.
I think it's about as tacky as showin up with primer, or no billet wheels, oh yeah or no cryin' baby doll thingy that leans against the car. It's a driver, so drive it. Enjoy and screw what people think... Again my 2¢
If it will run, Bring it! Did you get a chance to see the mexi-mobile convertable the last two times that has the quart of oil hanging out of a rust hole in the 1/4 panel? It doesn't matter, what it looks like. It's all for fun anyways.
Yea I saw that car at the Texas Heat wave. I thought it was cool. Glad to hear it is cool , I will be there for sure. Thanks
Just for some info. 59-60 GM cars all used the same gl*** for their respective bodystyle. HT's, sedans, didn't matter the make, the gl*** was the same. Hope that will help you find another windshield. If you're into it, check eBay. Gl*** on there quite often, and reasonable. Saw that someone was repopping the windshields and selling them for roughly $375 or so.
The meximobile 60 vert belongs to James King. I saw him turn down 20 grand for the car at the autorama. The guy had train ridin money too.TP
Don't worry about a little cracked gl*** and some rust. Just drive it out. Your in my boat now I've all the above and its never stoped me from going to any show.

If'n yer a plannin' on a-showin up with cracked gl***, you better bring a hot chick to make up fer it! Don't worry, once you see some of the Coollows cars you will be thankful that your only problem is cracked gl*** and a little rust!!! We've got a couple of daily drivers with no gl*** and more rust than metal in our line-up! HC
Tyler showed up at Bonneville with a baseball sized hole in the windshield of his Model A Pickup. That's the scars you get from driving.
Cracked gl*** gets you extra points in the Judging...! (I think there's Judging??? ) This show is so fun you can't miss it over a little cracked gl***!! There were cars at the show that were barn fresh original hot rods and some that were made to look barn fresh!! Yours will be in the "Original" cl*** !
