I'm not gonna argue with that:D

  3. Real Texans are still like old west outlaws. Maybe we'll seceed, some day, and go back to being...a whole other country.

I married a gal from Iowa and after 34 years here in Texas she say's will never go back to the "hogs".

Mikey...lovin' Texas but waitin' on winter.

  4. Minnysnowda's nice right now. mid 70's low 80's.
Texas Women are pretty phenominal. I've known my share of Jay Hawk Hotties too.
One thing about this central part of the US. Upper, lower and in between, most of the people (the hot rod ones) are the best.

Kansas BBQ....no. Kansas City, Missouri ....HELL YES! Best BBQ I've ever had. Lockhart is a close second.

As for the heat, when I moved here, I asked our realtor, "Do you get the four seasons down here?" She said, "Yeah, we have four seasons. We got 'almost summer', 'full on summer', 'still damned summer' and Christmas."

I hear ya Dan! But Im drivin my truck anyway ,AC or not! If it drops into the ninties its gonna feel like a cold front blew in!

  13. I had some of that KCMO BBQ. It was good, but slathered in rub and sauce. Bleh. Gimme some Smitty's Brisket from Lockhart anyday. There's no need to mess up perfectly good meat with a bunch of ****es and sauces.

Aside from the food. Texas kicks *** everywhere else too. Including temperature...overhead console in the truck says 113*as we speak.

Well, the BBQ depends on where ya go. A visitor to Texas might think that Bill Miller is real Texas BBQ if that's the only place he tried. Either way, I love 'em both but I'm glad I live in Texas now.

Come visit. You will find that for some unknown reason, Texans and Aussies (or kiwi's, for that matter) are kindred spirits.

how the hell else Would I know what a "Jafa" is, or know that "sweet as" and "sweet ***" are 2 completely different things?

Texas is the **** alright .I was born in San Antonio and i will most likely die here .Lived in a few other states briefly in my life ,but have always found my way back here...

  18. I just came in from about an hour in the garage. Thermometer says 103. An hour was all I could handle. Got three fans going and still damned near p***ed out.
I'm not getting much done on the hot rod right now....
Of course, December in Texas may just be the best time to ride your motorcycle, or roadster.

I work in an Aluminum extrusion plant and it was 112 inside (actual temp) today as always this time of year .What a great place to do physical work all day under a metal roof .I cant wait for Fall .Sometimes i actually get goose bumps when i walk outside into 100 degree weather...

  20. I have heard that before, something about Texas we 'Down Under' mob that seems to work. Lux, you could be an Aussie you know the lingo, I bet you even know what a ****ter (Wally Woofter) is!

From a true BOI (born on the island) the heat isn't any problem as long as your hot rod has air.

  24. Haha! Thats a fair effort to calm the Maori's! You must be a good bloke!

Going on six days of over 100 (106 right now in Dallas). Hope this isn't turning into another 1980. My electric bill is going to be through the roof!

When you guys up north come to visit TX, make sure you come between now and the end of September. That will give you a good appreciation of your climate! :D

    it was pretty easy.
step one. listen when someone say "It's "Mow-ry", not "May-o-ri"
step two. don't hit on thier gals.
    step 3. send them beers.
step 4. don't ask too many questions about the tattoos. but once You get to know them, make fun of said tattoos. then duck.
    step 5. send more beers.

I finally got a thermometer for my shop yesterday...It read 123 degrees.

I decided I really didn't want to know how hot it was afterall, and took it down. For some reason it felt a lot worse after I knew the actual temperature.

On an unrelated BBQ note, if you're ever in Dallas, my favorites are "Mac's BBQ" on Main St by my shop, "Off the Bone" on Lamar by the new police station, and "Sammy's" on Maple by the Federal Reserve Bank. I would recommend them in that order, but I will say that 'Off the Bone' is slowly catching up to 'Mac's.'
