For me, I have to write out the text complete before adding pics. Whenever I add a pic thats where it is. So If I write a paragraph and start adding pics to save time and continue writing, the pics are put in the middle of my text.
Type what you want. Then - You know The little cursor that shows where the letters will go, put it where you want the picture then hit either the thumbnail or full size ****on. Picture goes right there.
After you type in your text you might try hitting Enter twice to add a double space before adding your image links. This can add a little extra "breathing room" and make your post more easily read.
.... I'm having the same problem as the OP, ......so this is a test to see if I can get my old PC system/old browser/ old XP to place/move a pic to "elsewhere" in the text, during a "preview": ^ well, that cut/paste above, did not work on preview, so below is a test of going to "properties" after I right-clicked on the top image, then copy/paste the properties (and then paste between the texts) .... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...4/?temp_hash=39aeab0f7789a8413e020aa83a96e783 2nd test by using properties, trying to get pic to show up above this sentence. But this pic is still not showing on the preview; just the URL is showing that was copied from Properties. So I need to Submit, to see if worked or not even if this does get the pic to show down lower, I see no way to remove the original top image.
Ryan & staff, WTH... It did not work correctly...Where the second pic is now showing up, that was done by clicking on the top image during a PREVIEW, then copy paste off the image, I think it said "copy shortcut".. I now ***ume the 3rd attempt (which now only shows text of the URL), did not show as a pic, because I did not also type in the: [IMG/] url ?? yes or no? at any rate, I can't get rid of the first image, after I move the image to elsewhere... You need to understand that many hambers don't have the higher tech stuff or the patience to work around what we have. I think this is why many people are not posting anymore... " when I click the kitchen light on at night, I want illumination, ...I don't want to know/or learn, how to run a electricity generation plant"
3rd test, I am going to copy the URL then type the : [IMG/] the add the URL, then type the: ?? test below this line. [IMG/]http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...4/?temp_hash=39aeab0f7789a8413e020aa83a96e783
Well, now [ url ] 's showed up from copying off properties. Yes, I suppose I could edit that post above to remove the [ url ] 's, and maybe the pic will show.....but this is WAY too complicated. Like I said, others are having issues as well, and just give up.
It's actually a lot easier than before... Honestly, I can't imagine how you could be having issues unless your browser is acting funny. Here's a quick tutorial: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-to-post-images-on-a-thread.922350/ The reason your post above doesn't work is that you have URL brackets in there that you shouldn't have. Just press the image ****on above and paste the address of the image and it will look like this:
Ryan, Thanks for the reply on this, as I'd bet the OP , and others are still having the same issue. Yes, everthing is likely outdated on my end.. I read many web sites saying not to upgrade to IE8 because they said it has issues? So I didn't dare make a bigger problem with my PC. Yes, I know the bracketed "URL" showed up as a result of "copy/pasting" from a right click to get to "properties" I am sure I can "fix" that missing pic in the post that says "3rd test". I will try to do that later today...but, I could only get that pic URL if I already posted a pic, and then that first pic always shows up before the text. And...then I can't get rid of the first pic that shows above the text. Catch 22 The only way I might get this issue working, is if I put the pic in my galleries first, then copy that URL, and try to sneak it into a "Preview" of the text? On the old format, if I put up full pics, I could always get room above the pic for the cursor, then click and hit Enter, which made room above the pic, to add text. I can't find a way to "add a pic, or thumb first", and then "move" those pics downwards in preview, to then add the text above the pic. I am also thinking browser glitch because: I try to use "preview" even on a plain text post, without any pics...and many times, some of the text I just typed is simply not there on preview. So, when that happens, I finally have to click to "post the message" and then see what the heck actually shows up on the thread. (geez, I just hit preview of this post, and many words are simply not there)
Can't fix the pic in the post for test 3. Went to EDIT, then erased the bracketed Urls from both ends...then hit preview and now I lost the bracketed IMG off the back end. Tried adding it while in there, and it won't let me do anything. So, I went to More Options and then I could finally add the missing end bracketed IMG, but it refuses to show when I click save changes.
Sounds to me like you are having strange browser problems. I haven't really had any other complaints like this at all... and when something is wrong, I get hundreds of complaints. I'm gonna do some screen grabs on my machine tomorrow so you can follow along and see if it's just something you are doing wrong.
What I had to do in post 14 , was I used "upload a file" and put up the pic first. NO text Then posted that new reply. Pic only.. Then clicked EDIT on the newly posted post, and FINALLY had a way to move the "typed code link of the pic" downwards with the cursor & then ENTER ****on. Then I had room above the code, to type, and also was able to type below the pic. To clear that up, when I posted just the pic, then clicked EDIT on that post, the Edit Page did not show the pic itself, just typed code of that attachment. Because there was no pic, I could then move that code downwards. Ok, I can make it work, but that's just to crazy to have to keep doing that, if you are trying to do a build thread, etc. ..... post/edit, post/edit repeated, for pics between text bodies
If the image has a URL and web address already - like this one ,,,, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachments/img_3156-jpg.2861554/ Copy it, out of the address bar or out of photobucket or where ever. Now this has 2 parts. 1st part. Then hit the icon that looks like mountains. Past it into the space then click insert. The picture should show up in the post with a long curser on the right side of the pic. Click on the left edge of the pic and you can move the picture down. Second URL way. Copy the link, Ok now get the cursor exactly where you want it THEN click the mountain icon. Paste it into the box, hit insert and the pic should go exactly where you had the cursor.
I know how to use the "mountian icon" to add a pic from my Photobucket, etc.. and I know my many posts are are very hard to follow on this thread, but.. Just like the OP in post number one; we cannot get a pic to show up where we choose; it always ends up above the text. No matter where the cursor was clicked, when you stopped typing text. ...also, look at my post number 8. The bracketed IMG is missing at the end of that URL. I try to add that bracketed IMG on EDIT, then I have to click More Options to get a preview ****on. When I hit Preview, that IMG is gone AGAIN. Then I retype the Bracketed IMG and hit preview again, it now shows. Then hit save, and it still shows a missing IMG in that post. I just tried again, right now...and I cannot fix that pic to show. At this point, I am not even sure if I could add several random pics from my Photobucket account and be able to place them where I want between text bodies on a thread. I suppose I could try, but that would be a tough way to do a build thead. That's how pics were added by HTML to forums, as well as ebay, 15 years ago! It must be a browser incompatabiliy. If Ryan can't figure why we are having the issue, I might have to upgrade. (the reason I avoided browser upgrades, is that on the "last" one I did a year or two ago, my ISP supplied Email system got so screwed up that it barely worked)
