Hello everybody! i'm keeping to built my model A hot-rod and another question is on my mind at this time. Since i would like to keep the interior and the dash as close to original as possible, i was wondering if it is possible to connect a th350 trans cable to the original 1930 model A speedo ? Any one knows ? Thanks
My 28/9 speedo has internal threads at the speedometer I don't know of any late model speedometers that have internal threads.
If you use the original model A cable, the transmission end will fit a turbo 350 trans.. I've done it...
Yes I did that exactly, threads on a model a are standard. I did have a cable made at a speedo shop. Speedo @ 60 mph = 1000 rpm. You'll have to calculate your rear axle ratio and tire size to find proper speedo gear for the trans. Not rocket science.
I had Rusty at Speedoservice build one for me. Adapted the 47 speedometer with internal threads to the GM transmission drive.
Try a standard model A cable onto the TH350. I have 2 model A rods, one with a TH 700 and one with a T5, and running original model A oval speedos and the cables are a direct screw on fit at the gearbox end. Albeit, I am using an adapter that sends pulses to the computer for speed sensing .
