I had the ****** rebuilt on my 27. It's a th350 with a gennie shifter. Put fluid in the torque converter, bolted everything into place, more fluid in the ******, turn the motor on, shift through all the gears, and filled it up to it's level, but it takes a few seconds for any gear to catch. I'll put in D and it takes a few seconds. Once it gets going it shifts fine through all the gears, but when I come to a stop, it seems like it goes into N. The RPM's pick up and she's down the road no problem. R is the same thing. What gives! I did a search, but couldn't find anything. I'm thinking somehow I don't have enough pressure. What do you guys think? Thanks!
Did you check the ****** fluid with the engine running and in park, thats the right way to check it. If its full and you still have the problem,I"d take it back to whoever rebuilt it in the first place, nobodies perfect everytime, but they probably have been paid and you are still walking.
Yep did that as well. I will recheck my fluid levels and check my hoses. I'm thinking Bullet Man might be right.
Weak pump, or one of the o-rings was not installed properly, allowing line pressure to drop. Hope it's something simple.
Could even have something to do with the governor sticking. I've seen that cause all kinds of fun shifting issues. It is most common right after a rebuild for it to happen. (in my experience)
converter was installed incorrectly. screwed up the pump. picking it up this evening and slapping it in.
Ding! Ding! Ding!!! I win!!! Low pressure from the pump. Sorry it had to be such a PITA, but glad you got it figured out.
PITA indeed! Just got back from driving her and she' running like a champ now! Thanx to everyone for their input.
