Wondering if anybody know the torque specs for the flywheel to torque converter bolts for aTH350? Do they have to be torque?
There should be 3 bolts. Some were just holes on the converters tabs that took nuts,& some converters had/have welded-in nuts. Use red Loctite & tighten 'em up,,,,"tight" with a box end. Nothing critical here,,,just "tight".
DITTO! Your 45lbs sounds OK too, but it sure ain't that critical. Besides, what a pain in the dick getting a torque wrench in there
I generally hook one box wrench on the open end of the other combo wrench which has it's box end on the TC bolt, and use it to turn the motor over to reach the next bolt...that should be tight enough!
Does anyone know the size and length of the 3 bolts that run between the torque converter and flywheel? I thought they were 3/4" in length, but I can't remember for sure.
Mr Gasket sells a nice kit with the three bolts, nuts and washers. The bolts are 12 point so they grab the wrench real well. The kits only about $6. Well worth it. Craig
I was just going to go to Fastenal and buy the 3 bolts and nuts and lock washers because it is easier that's the only reason I asked. I'd look myself, but I'm forced to keep my car at my Father's house because of space.
3/8", coarse thread. Chevy TH350 converters use a bolt and nut, the Buick, Olds, Pontiac TH350 uses a bolt only. The lockup converters use metric bolts....
Bingo. Im looking at an old Mr Gasket bolt kit here. There's (3) 3/8" X 16 (NC) bolts and (3) 3/8" flat washers. The threaded portion of the bolts are exactley 1/2" long.(no nuts). Anybody wants them just PM me,,,they are new in the package. Mr Gasket part # is 6715,,but its about a 15 yr old part number.
