Th350 number decoding

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tugmaster, Jul 15, 2006.

  1. I picked up a TH-350 for my 50 Sedan on Craigslist. The guy I bought it from said it was out of a 70's Malibu. The number stamped on the bellhousing boss is 17B452158 I ***ume the B is for Feb. Is the 7 the year? 1977. I know some of you are great at this number thing. Any help would be great.

    Thanks,
    Todd

    The number on the bellhousing pad is the vin number of the car it came out of. The pan is stamped with the factory it came out of as well as the shift and date of production, ***uming its for a chev.

    yeah, that's the partial VIN

    1=chevrolet
    7=1977

    the rest of it is the serial number of the car

    Yup, that should be a good ****** to start with. Although you need to take it apart and see what condition it's in, every th350 that I've taken apart had at least one thing wrong with it inside.
