Technical TH350

    Does the TH350 simply go straight back & straight forward or are there slots, catches for the shifter to go into? Just certain gears?

    There’s a pawl/comb in there with detent nubs on it. I had one come loose once. You can see it when you pull the pan

    Like Bugget36 said , if you take the linkage or cable off @ trans, use your hand You will have Park when you move arm/ linkage about 1 inch movement will be R short click N another short click D same for 2 &1 . Or if reversible body will be the same Except P R N 1 2 D
    Either which way he will fill clicks on the transmission.
    If you do not feel clicks ,drop pan you will see flat spring stock with a roller that rides the detents/ notches .
    Some gear shifter's will have gates but not typically on OEM gear selector's
