God bless your family and friends and members of the HAMB.
The love and support you all gave this special young man made a difference in his precious life and eased his p***age into his new life. A truly truly wonderful gift you have all given to him and to each other.
    I salute you.

Thanks for sharing what, I know, was a very emotional thing to put into words. It never ceases to amaze me the strength and courage an ill child lends to the people around them.

It seems that they just take it on their shoulders to comfort the adults and siblings they are leaving behind.

Andy was an amazing example of this. I ***ure you that we got much more from him than he ever got from us.

Thanks for sharing Andy with us.

Chris, I hope you know that Andy in the short time he was given on this earth has touched the hearts of soooooo many folks. You also have to know that he will not be soon forgotten as he, without a doubt, was an incredible inspiration to us all that had the privilege of directly or indirectly knowing him. God bless you and your family. You also know that you now have a guardian angel looking after you?

I think we need to salute Andy at each show/run/whatever - I don't care who ya are or what you make yourself out to be - Andy got in your Head and he ain't coming out.
Just do a Calling All Hambers - It's The Andy Moment - and do what ever you planed. The others will ask - the story will be told - and our Buddy Andy will live on.

  5. He meant a lot to all of us - I never met Andy or the rest of his immediate family but got to know him here on the HAMB like many others. He was and is an inspiration for everyone here - for you to share such an intimate moment with all of us truly makes me feel extremely fortunate.

    Again, my deepest condolences.

    Steve

I don't know what to say. I'm definitely choked up and teary eyed after reading that. All I have to say is that I think some of the greatest and most genuine people on earth are right here on the HAMB. Andy, from what I've heard, fit right in. God Bless you and your family.

Thank you very much for your post.
My cars from now until forever will carry my hambandy plaque. when I sell something the plaque comes off to go on my next ride. That way when people ask me about it I can tell them about an amazing kid I never knew, but inspired me and thousands all over the world.

    thanks Andy,

    Scot

  18. I cried too. HambAndy will always be with me when my A hits the road. Dunnie..... you're a Hamber too and I'm sure we all want you to stay here, even if you just lurk, check in every now and then and let us know what's happening.
There have been some very pivotal people here over the years, Ryan obviously, B***, Hotrodladycruzr and many more, but HambAndy was the one who made us feel like a great big family and I think taught us to be more tolerant and understanding of others. Now go outside, jump in the A and drive the heck out of it!!

  19. Must have been terribly hard to write that post, but we're all real pleased you did. Very humbling and I'll admit I've just been and given my kids all a big hug.
I have a 9 year old son and we're busy collecting parts for his T project - now every time we work on it we'll be Thinking of HambAndy

Really lost of words after reading that. I've been following the threads etc on HAMB ANDY through the past few months. So devastating to read about Andy wanting to watch American Graffiti as I was the same age half a month ago knowing that Andy was into the whole scene just like myself. Touch wood, I think how lucky I am that I am able to persue this addictive p***ion and hobby for many years to come. It's extremely rare that you find a kid that's into the whole scene, wanting to watch movies like 'American Graffiti' etc. I have watched this movie and many others and am totaly into the period songs of all the cars on the H.A.M.B, the whole seen as I said. Again, try suggesting to a 14-15 year old kid to watch movies like 'American Graffiti' and listen to songs by 'Johnny Burnette', 'The beach Boys', 'Elvis' etc. They'll think your a wacko.

And your dead right Dunnie, the H.A.M.B is full of top ranked teachers and mentors. Even though you guys might not consider yourselves as ones.

My point is that a youth like Andy does'nt come along very often and like myself wants to carry on the tradition for many years to come.

I wish I had known him before he p***ed away so that I could introduce myself to him and talk about the MADNESS that we have been glued to and be able to ***ociate with each other when we say that every second of the day and every second we sleep, were are thinking about the cars, the scene.

Take it easy up there Andy!!!!

    HC.

Just unbelievable courage running through your family. It was good to hear from you on how prepared he was and the comfort and pride he left for his family during a very difficult time. As others have said, that lil guy of yours puts what's most important into perspective.

My continued prayers for you and your family.

    Dunnie,
It is tearfully obvious where Andy's courage and strength of character came from.
You and your whole family are amazing people.
And the account you wrote of... it couldn't have happened or have been written in any other way that could better show the 'quality' of son that you and your wife raised and the solid type of people you are.
When I bought a plaque and a couple of decals I didn't know how many times over I would get back for my "investment".
One day I will visit the province next door. Your area will be on the list of must-visits.
    Thank you for sharing...

    Joe

Chris, that was a very touching post.

I know it must have been most difficult to write, but at the same time rewarding, in that you were remembering the thing that Andy shared with all of us, his courage. What a brave young man!

Bless you and your family and I hope you are on the mend.

Now, I second the suggestion that you take the coupe for a memorial spin. Get that grin on your face. It might take a while, but you know it's there and wants to be seen.

Andy will remain with this old man as long as I live even though I never met him face to face. He seemed like such a cool car guy.

Thanks for allowing him to hang out with the rest of these hoodlums.

It has taken me all this time just to be able to sit at the keyboard and type this. My emotions and tears are out of control. Andy was such a special kid and now I think I know why. Dunnie, your son was just a reflection of you and your family. We on this board are priveleged to have known him. Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know those thoughts about Andy. He will always be in my thoughts as will you and you family.
