just want to thank dave and the lucky bastards for puttin on a kick ass driving event. it doesn't get much better than climbing and descending a ton of hills with a bunch of early ford drivetrain open wheel hotrods.truly a great day of driving. thanks again. josh
word. i heard it was incredible... tardel and i over slept and missed it. that won't happen next year...
So wanted to go but had my daughter, just glad I made it to the Revolution!!!!! Good seeing you Ripper!!!! Ryan nice meeting you at the show. Dirty
thanks dave...it's really cool you guys put that together..it was the most fun i've had in a while...i got some youtube action coming later....
so how many roadside repairs did you guys have to make? hopefully nothing too major...looks like a blast, maybe we'll have to get the lucky bastards and the MHRS to throw one of those on over here in MN...during the winter...hahaha...THAT would be hardcore...
it was a lot of fun-thanks to everyone who participated and thanks to redbeard for single-handedly puttin this thing on. not too many problems with the cars-most were deemed "reliable.
Man it was an absolute blast, thanks to Redbeard and the rest of the Lucky Bastards and the King Pins for organizing a great day.The mechanicals were pretty minor as far as I know, other than Furbiscuits T speedster. My coupe shut off going up one of the mountain roads, quickly found the wire from ballast to coil had grounded out on coil body, corrected and back on the road. This was probably about the best day I've had in my hot rod, great roads, cool cars and nice people, what more can you ask for.
the run was a freakin blast. my first malady was a stuck valve and dropped keeper. But the day was finished by losing oil pressure 3/4 of the way up the climb to middle town. Had to turn around but made it home. thanks again to senor Ripper for the valve tool. Dave and everyone who stopped to help. Amazing run, will be back next year.
Well actually the day had one bummer...... I had to leave Little Switzerland early to get home and missed the Polka band. I hope some of you guys stuck around for that.
Well, I want to thank everyone who came out. It was a great time. and thanks to the Kingpins who helped put this on. There were a few breakdowns, furbiscuits valve keeper, but we fixed that on the roadside, then he later lost oil pressure. And Nate, pulled of in Napa. Nate, we had directions and arrows at every turn so no one would get lost. I also had my # on the directions if you needed help or got lost. But maybe next year we should have a map. At any rate I am glad you came out. we had one more roadside repair, with a fuel line. But of the 30 cars that started only 2 did not make it. It was a great turn out of cars, and we definately will do it again. Here are some more pics, though I didn't have a camera. While we were all parked helping or waiting for furbiscuits speedster there was literally almost an accident from the newer cars slowing down to look, a car in back locked up the brakes. It was pretty funny since no one was hurt. I also wanted to say what a great time we had the day before at the revolution, thanks to everyone who put that on.
The polka band was great, and I would like to thank the Little Switzerland for hosting the end party. MMMMM snitzle good I almost forgot that Jivebomber got a flat, and I guy who owned the tire shop happen to drive by and stop, so they went to the tire shop and put in a new tube. I think the greatest was Jim's 34, this car was parked in 1965, and Kevin revived it last week for the revolution and the reliabilty run. It really was the coolest, and it had no problems on the run. I heard that Jim was pretty happy to hear it fire up, and even better to take it out and drive it.
i had a blast for the leg i was on...i was better off turning around at napa anyway,as my car was'nt charging and died in vallejo...thanks again for putting on such a rad event.
I have to add that Jims' 34 would have never made it to the revolution or the run without the help of the big J RIPPER.
I want to thank everyone who helped in the run this weekend. It was one of the best, if not the best, car event I have participated in. Great people drivin the shit out of great hot rods. What could be better? Can't wait to do it again. Jims' car was amazing. Parked for 41 years, two weeks of thrash, 200 plus miles driven. This weekend was something that he will never forget. Thanks again
It just plain RULED. 150 miles is no joke with all that climbing, descending, turning and swerving! Like Dave said, I had a tube go out in the smallest town you can imagine- Luckily, it wasn't on one of the 15 mph curves! It lost air so rapildly that the tire came loose from the rim. The kid (who just happened to be driving by right at that moment) owned the tire shop a block away opened up just for me, installed a tube and helped me put the wheel back on the car. Total charge? $20. Nice... The start: The Fun: The trouble: The End: Every guy (and girl) on that run were true Hot Rod- No hot air, no fakes or flakes-- It was the real deal!!
A few more shots... I finally figured out how to get pics in the Post: Fur Biscuit on the Road: Took this while going 55 mph: Loved this 34 Tudor, even though she sprayed gas on me for 20 miles:
really I was just thinking how cool it was there were no 50's cars. That run and show look like a blast. There are lots of car shows for 50's rides (which I am not against either just bored of them) this is a real cool idea they have going.
We are definately keeping the 1940 and earlier, because this is meant to be a hot rod event. But one idea I had was to have two runs going on at the same time, and at some point they would pass by each other going opposite ways on the same road. I am not against 50's cars having the same fun, hell I have a 53 Lincoln 2 door hardtop. But the reality is a fifties car is a whole different ride, and experience. If some of you guys with 50's cars want a run let me know, I like to plan these things, and if there is enough responce telling me you want it, maybe we will do something for 50's cars. Or maybe we could have a race of the hot rods and the 50's cars, hahaha, I know most 50's and 60's are for cruising. Anyhow, thanks again to everyone that came on the run. and I want to thank Matt Seret, for drawing up the artwork.
no way man! pre-40...and no small block chevys!!!! (just kidding about that last part) (actually no i was'nt )
