I recently acquired a 1952 Chevy Belair 2door coupe. I have read in the forums that a S10 4x4 rear end works for this vehicle to install a modern V8 motor350/350 .what perch modifications are needed and how do I go about this task to ensure a proper fit? I am very mechanically inclined so my skill level should be up to par.

  2. About 25 years ago my son and I installed a '84 or so Cutlass rear in a '54 Chevy. I'm guessing the '52 and '54 are about the same width, not sure. Anyway, when you remove the old axle from your '52 you will see that the center pin is not centered on the axle. So when you make the new spring saddles for the springs allow for this. The springs in my son's car did not hold up very well, at least to his driving style, the front of the springs wrapped up and bent on hard acceleration. We installed new main leaves and built some traction bars. His car only had a 305 in it, I'm thinking you will have this same problem with a 350 powered car.
