Thanks for your concerns, about the fire!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bad Bob, Nov 16, 2008.

  1. I want to thank all you guys who called me to see if I was okay! The houses behind me are all on fire! The wind seems to be moving west,so I think i'm okay. I'll see if I can get a pic or two. Took the Merc to my buddy's house in Riverside, for safe keeping. Just got home about 30 min's ago. The cops wouldn't let me in,so I walked 4 miles through some horse trails to get to my house,lol...

  3. I have been tuning in the KGO and sounds like your haveing a hard time of it. is this trees or wild grass ? In southern Oregon we had to deal with the smoke from the northern Calif fires wasnt nice. I just heard they busted five guys steeling from the burnt homes, I never
    can understand that.

  4. This is looking NORTH,down my street! Less than a dragstrip!!! That's fuckin close...

Hose down your roof with the garden hose. I used to be a firefighter, you may not be able to stop the fire with it, but I've seen people minimize alot of damage just by hosing down their own home!
And for pete's sake, be careful, remember, things can be replaced, you can not.

  8. Well,it's trees and houses! There's a bunch of newly built 2.5million homes, built before then housing crash. They keep showing this guy watering his house down with a waterhose. I can see him from my house!

I sent my wife and kids to their grandma's house. I'm here to BATTLE!!!!

If you got lawn sprinklers, turn them on too. Watered down green grass between your home and the fire will help as well.

Man it's crazy out there! Drove my truck to pick up the freshly chromed rear bumper (Pontiac) in Chatsworth, then to CPP in Fullerton, then to the Truck/Car Shop in OC. While driving down Batavia, a lady decided to make a left turn and almost T-boned her Stupid A$$. The drive sucked, falling ash everywhere. I have no side windows so it smelt like chimney outside. The winds were calm here in Ventura and washed the truck. Stay Safe!

Neighbourhood looks fairly green and tidy. Should be OK. Since you're there to "battle", don't change your mind at the last minute. A car is no place to get caught. All the best

Just seen this on the BBC news (uk) , was saying to my wife that it looks real bad. Then logged on here and saw this, really brings it home when you see pics like yours Bob.
I can't imagine how bad you and your neighbours must feel right now.

Fingers crossed for you , and hope I hope the wind doesn't change direction again.

    Paul.

  19. I wouldn't know wether to pee outside, or drink up some of my stock first. I guess that's why Harbor Freight has a funnel set that costs like 49 cents - you can use any of them to pee out the window and still have three left.

I must have been hammered when I posted this shit, cause it doesn't even make sense to me now. Sorry -

Please keep us posted, this is scary man. I lived in Montecito for a few years and in Santa Barbara also. About a year after I moved back to Nebraska a fire swept thru the edge of Santa Barbara and knocked out a couple of friends places as well as a great house of my buddies up on Casita Pass. I am praying for your safety pal. Be brave~Sololobo~

I am about ten miles south east of Yorba Linda - anybody need help or car space PM me if you can. It burned onto my property last year and I was evacuated for a week with no clue if I had a home or hot rods left, so I feel for you guys. 45 ft high wall of flame came within 20 feet of my cars, charred a couple of parts I had outside. 60 firefighters threw everything they had at it and stopped it. Others were not so lucky as we lost three homes just two doors down from me.

A prayer and thanks to all the emergency workers, utility workers - power gas and water, Cal Trans and all those who are supporting the guys on the front line.

Are you there Bob? Did you have to get out? Keep us posted.

Since the neighbors are gone, they won't mind if you borrow their hoses and water. Be careful-Bad Bob is cool, but Burned Bob would suck.

  29. Good Luck, Bob, our prayers are with you too! I live down in
Alpine (East of San Diego, and all of the last three big wild fires have come within a few miles of my house (the first two were within a 1/4 mile), so I know what your going through. Also know a couple of people who lost their houses (Including a retired Fire Chief) whom are convinced if they had stayed they would have saved their homes, so your probably doing the right thing! Most of the houses lost around here were lost because there was no one there to fight the fire (owners evacuated and fire dept's streched to thin to get to everything), not due to the intensity of the fire.
