Pass on a THANKS to the folks you serve with too, we appreciate what you do!! Oh, you're from SC, change that to ya'll!
OH MY GOD! THE POO POND! They haven't got rid of that thing yet? For the uninitiated it is a pond about the size of a football field filled with liquid.... well, it's called the poo pond. When you don't smell that the wind blows the incinerated garbage your way. We used to do P.T. tests right next to the pond because the road was paved.
@cruzincougar Well I'm from NC stationed in SC but we still say y'all haha thanks! Yeah don't know the last time I didn't "smell" something here... Night time it smells like fire pit smoke everywhere mixed with poo, daytime it's poo pond if the wind catches it and blows it your way. That is if you can smell through all the dust in your nose haha. I don't see how the hell you ran around that thing. I have never EVER smelt something so rancid in my life. It's indescribable
It's not Hot Rodding per say, but the dump is filled with all kinds of stuff that units get rid of before they leave and scrub their books. Some stuff comes in handy, like ammo cans, spray paint and car batteries but they throw out all kinds of stuff. If it is still set up the way it was, the consumables are free for the taking. There were vehicle parts in the mix but mostly heavy equipment. The MP/SPs had a abandoned vehicle lot too. We picked up a Lada (Russian Jeep) that needed a clutch so we traded with the Pols for a clutch kit and, hey presto, that thing ran like a top. Later we "found" a HiLux with A/C and that became the Daily Driver. Too many memories, if you need anything over there Like Hot Rod magazines you can't get PM me.
You, and all who serve, have served, or will serve have my admiration and heartfelt thanks. Make the best of things now and when you get home the hobby will be better with you back on the road. Best wishes on the upcoming fatherhood! lc
@ramrod36 Very appreciated thank you! @dickbeaters Yeah I'll have to look into that I wouldn't mind checking that out but as nit picky as the air force is they probably would frown upon us doing anything fun like that haha. We do have flightline Chevy trucks with AC though so that's nice. Thanks man I'll hsend ya a PM if I think of anythin.
I get a kick out of enlisted folks issuing thank yous' to anyone... Dude, thank YOU! You don't owe any thanks, when you're over there doing a job not many would ever voluntarily do, in order that we can go on about our lives over here without a care in the world. Sir, I thank YOU for playing a part in making sure that ALL of our sons and daughters might get to grow up in a free land, and enjoy some of the things that we enjoy. Hit me up when you get home, first round is on me.
16ft should do the job. I checked the stock harness on my 324 and added some extra. Pretty sure 303 and 324 use the same wires.
Come on man! Get your ass back here. We have lot's to catch up on. Can't wait to meet the little Hot Rodder. Heavy Rebel is soon. Hope you'll be back for that. Take care and thanks for all you do for all of us. BloodyKnuckles
I was going to leave the 55 chebbie in the garage this weekend BUT at your request, I'll take it out and burn up some gas and smoke up the tires alittle in your honor. My son in law is a Sgt. in the Marines and was recently re-deployed for the 4th time to Afganistan. We want ALL of our men and women home and can't thank you enough for your service to keep us free. God Bless the U.S.A. and we pray that you come home safe.
Another thanks from a vet from the early '70's for all you and every other service member does for us REMF's back stateside. I'll fire up the flatty in your honor this weekend. Only a roller but it still sounds sweet sans mufflers.
Thank you and your family for the sacrifices you make. Teach that kid all you know about hot rodding. Stay safe.

I have to say man that reading your posts brings back memories as I'm sure it does for many Vets here. There is no feeling like that of leaving for a war zone and wondering if you will make it home, there is also no feeling like coming home. Stay safe. John
Take care man. It will be a real homecoming with that little fella waitin' on you. Thanks for what you do. Next time I fire up the Stude it will be in your honor. I have a nephew in Afghanistan now and a son-in-law who spent a tour there in 2003. If you need something let me know. I'll be glad to help out. It is the least I can do.
Cool man so you do fab work on sheet metal.learn all you can so when you come home you can build some kick ass hot rod or Kustoms. (Think about ) starting your own business building cars ,our hobby needs guys like you with experience that can fabricate sheet metal. Congratulations on your new baby coming soon. A big ( thank you ) for what you do every day. I will go cruze my Kustom today in beautiful green Colorado thinking about you guys over there.
Thanks yall^^^ I've been doing Aircraft structural maintenance for 10 years now and learn something new all the time. Its taught me how to use a spray gun and lots of fabrication skills. But working on Aircraft is quite different than automobiles but some of it carries over. Dont think I'd ever want a business of building cars because then you have to deal with it on a business level and kind of ruins the fun of it to me. Owning an old style service station would be fun though!
I was a Aviation mechanic (airframe and hydraulic) back in the cold war days in the Navy. I served aboard two Aircraft carriers and found that aircraft and salt spray don't mix, so we were always making patch panels to replace the oxidized ones. I also remember having many hydraulic fluid bathes from fixing actuators and lines. Fun stuff. Thanks for serving the best country on this planet.
@beebing yeah y'all navy guys include hydro in your structural jobs... We fabricate tubing and do permaswege repairs but we have separate guys for hydro troubleshooting. I can only imagine the corrosion you would have at sea. Thanks for your time served as well sir! Cheers
Here's one for shits and grins. Navy Aviation maintenance wasn't a clean job. I'm the filthy turd in the foreground.
@beebing that's awesome! Thanks for sharing... Looks like me about 4 hours ago swedging a b system hydraulic line, crouched over in the main landing gear with hydro fluid everywhere getting your hands into positions you didn't know they'd go in to haha... Stuff is cramped on these fighters here!
