I'm new here on THE H.A.M.B. and can use all the guidance I can get... My name's Mike Felix; but, friend's call me Quiet Mike (long story)... This is Jennifer. It had been a long night when I took this picture... I had had to keep her off the streets, since all the overnight parking structures were closed and the status of her registration with the California Department of Motor Vehicles was not only non-operational, but also, expired... I drove us to a clandestine location where we wouldn't be h***led by parking enforcement or security... The place I chose is now known as The Brewery Art Colony... At one time, this old brewery, which has now been converted into hundreds of live/work spaces was the site of the old Eastside and Pabst Blue Ribbon breweries. The eclectic mix of artists, directors, tattooers and taxidermists who now call this their neighborhood, I thought, didn't seem like the type of people who would likely call the cops on a green pea rodder such as myself when I wasn't harming anyone and was, in fact, only doing right by my new ride... I'd simply have to find a parking spot and sleep in her, in case I would have to be around to plead my case to the man... Spend the night I did; and, come sunrise, I headed off to find her a place to hide, dodging cops all the way... She only needed to lay low for a few more hours while I waited for my insurance guy to open his office and insure me over the phone... Then, if I got pulled over on the way to the DMV, I at least had a way to show financial responsibility... Too, I needed a few more zzz's and a power outlet for my phone to recharge... At 8:30, that Monday morning, the place across the street from my building, in downtown L.A., gave us sanctuary... I tucked her in, went upstairs for nap and waited for Mario the insurance guy to return my message... When everything was ready, I took my proof of insurance and headed over to AAA and got the big **** roadside ***istance membership... They also helped me with all my DMV paperwork... I was now legal; and, my baby and I had survived our first night. Thanks, THE H.A.M.B., for letting me go on about my first hot rod experience... I'm really new; so, it's still a big deal to me. Since, ~QM
