I just wanted to thank all the HAMBers that made the long (and now expensive) ride to the Showdown. Everything went fairly smooth, learned a little more for next year. BIG thanks to Sowhat, Skatefink, Lulabelle and Mrs. Lulabelle for the much needed help! Looks like we're gonna have close to 3 grand to donate to some local charities. I want to use some of the $$ to do a toy run this winter to one of the local hospitals. Maybe we can freeze our****es off for some good and skip Posies open house (I hear show flyers make great note paper) [IMG] [IMG].Thanks again, it was exhausting fun!

  2. Maybe we'll be lucky and it will rain next year [IMG]

When we went back for the camper we ate lunch and watched the race cars for a while.

    Larry,
Thank YOU for holding a KICKASS event!

The stuff going on at the show was great to say the least, but it's the people behind it that make an event worth going to!
An old style get together where you can hang with your friends...and no politics.

Congrats on pulling off year two in grand fashion! [IMG]

    I can't wait til #3........

Great show and worth the money and long drive.. Glad to see you made a little money on it.... With the response you are getting I would expect next year to double in size...

Could have used a little bit more water on the track, didn't even get any mud on it, thou I was not brave enough to think I was a 4x4 and get it down low like a few others.... Next yr Clark has to wait until the others go for a drive so he does not***** up all the good mud on his car....LOL

Man where do I start, yesterday was a real eye opener for me. The Jalopy Showdown was the first of it's kind that I have attended and I'm glad I started with a great one. I've been to street rod shows before and you can see a big difference of how people react at each one, they are uptight almost like they have no soul. This show on the other hand I see people full of enthusiasm and commadre, glad they have good music, cars, and people to see and hear. It was kool to meet some fellow Hamber's ponchobilly,1096,1low48,caffein,scarrylarry,spike,sowhat,tokyo and wife, sawzall and wife, glasshole, and especially 46mopar and wife, thanks for the ride down I really appreciate it, now I gotta get my 40 done [IMG]. To the other Hamber's there sorry I didn't get to say hi, I sometimes feel a little out of place and don't know how to talk to people. I can't wait till next year to experiance it all over again. Thanks scarlarry it was a blast. later plmczy

  12. Larry, my brother and I had a BLAST time at your show. The people were great, the cars kicked****, the bands were rockin', the museum was fantastic, and the track laps were awesome!!! Hmmm... what am I missing? Oh yeah! The vintage sprints were a flash back in time. That stuff holds some fond memories for me. Some guys were standing on it- while some were content to make parade laps. It was great to see expensive show cars run hard and get dirty... the sprints too! [IMG]

Good stuff, Larry! See you there again

    Thank YOU!

That was a great event. I met lots of HAMB folks and had a great time. I want to especially thank the powers that be that allowed my little hot rod girl (my daughter Lily, 6) drive a lap in my Dad's 32 (with him working the pedals and clutch, of course). I think the experience put her another step closer to being a future hot rod chick like her mom and Grandmother!

It was nice meeting everyone new and seeing old friends. Thanks to everyone who put all the hard work into making the event so fantastic! Next year I'm camping!

Hey, if nobody minds, I'm gonna lift some of your photos from here to use on the website photo pages. I got zero photos yesterday. I barely had time to talk with anyone, let alone take photos. If anyone wants theirs left alone, send me a PM. If I'm gonna steal them, it may as well be from my buddies! [IMG]

    Larry,
I've been involved in a lot of clubs over the years. I've helped with several shows. I ran a model contest at a few Good Guys shows. I know how it is. When YOU'RE the one responsible, it's hard to delegate. It's also hard to do it all and still make it through the day. I thank you and JT for letting me do something where I got to stay in the shade and for the most part, talk. Right up my alley.....
It was a fantastic event. Hot weather, cool cars, great venue, good food & music. Year one was a blast, year two was an "event." Just can't imagine year three topping this one......we'll try.
Thanks to everyone. The above mentioned, Scott for gathering up a bunch of cool donations, the people that donated them, the EMMR people, the bands and most importantly, each and every person that attended. Without them, it wouldn't have been the "event" it was......... [IMG]

A big thanks to Larry, Kim, the bands and all the good people who showed up with their great cars. That was one fun day. Gotta also thank the SoWhat gang for letting me a part of the "999" build. Doing laps around the track were a serious rush. Only 364 days till the next show.

Larry- Thanks for the great show. Like I told you, although it was ten times the size, the feeling was the same. I shot a couple of rolls so let me know what you need for pics.

To the people responsible- Thanks for the Dairy Queen sign. Where on earth do you find those things? They must be rare..

    My car is clean now..

I had a blast at the show, Larry. I just have to pace myself better so I can remember what happened. Something about pounding beer in 90 degree weather that didnt' work out that great. Still had fun, and met some very cool people.

Thanks for all the work that made a great day--I saw lots of interesting iron, met up with Hambers, got to ride around the track in Flatdog's amazingly powerful flathead coupe, and just relax amongst good people and cool iron.
