Customs Thanks to all who attended our MERC gathering/Suede Pavilion @ Sacramento

I hope he does.Real nice guy.I liked the charred dash knob he showed me that Hirohata made that survived the fire his car was in.

 

Gosh, I am torn there. After talking with Larry and the story of him saving that Merc when no one wanted them and putting it back together then spending the last 34 years driving the wheels off it....While it would be cool to see it restored, it's equally as cool to see it as a driver on the road during a time when custom Mercs were waaaaaaay past a cool thing to have/drive and before they were cool again.

 

This one. I tripped out when he took it out and handed it to me.....and actual Bob Hirohata knob in MY hand..... Thanks Axle for this opportunity.

 

I had a good time and it was inspiring to see all those ground braking custom Merc's of old in one room. There was a lot of history at the show this year, and not just in the merc room! I dug it.

 

We had a great time too,Jeff! By the way....my wife says HI,LOL.....

 

Great talking to you and your dad Dave!!! He had some cool stories...

 

Cool deal Bob,that show was a blast,tell your wife it was nice to meet her ,she was very cool!!!! LOL!

 

Are the posters going to be availble some time?

Hey Axle we had a great time. You guys put together a great show. We were parked outside of the suede pavilion. I really enjoyed the music you guys played all day. Talked to you for just a second, you looked pretty busy so I didn't want to get in your way. Next time you're going to have to tell me where you get all your music.

I had a fantastic time in Sacramento... Thanks to Alex, Celeste and the rest of the people who made this gathering possible.

I will create a new post with a few more of the 1000+ photos I made during last weekend. But... that might take a few more days before I get to it.
I first need to get a lot of work done has been waiting for me to get back home.


Here are a few sample shots. I brought two camera's... one new one and it took me a while to figure out the best settings for it. So some of the photos did not came out as I had hoped, but still overall I'm rather pleased with them.

This was the first time I saw Sam Barris Merc... inside the trailer.

We where asked to help push the freshly painted Wally Welch Merc out of the trailer and into the building. Here you can see Axle thinking about how many hours he has to work to pay for a new paintjob if it would get scratched in the process...

Wow! hearing and watching the Hirohata Mercury drive is priceless. Thanks for posting this Rik, I'm with the other fellas and will wait for your coverage. Couldn't think of a better person to cover this show. I'm sure it was hard too, as you just wanted to study and look at each Custom.

hands down a GREAT gathering Axle!!! i was hoping for more mercs for the cruise in, but i was at least glad i got my pile together and was able to be apart of the show. Everybody did a great job pulling this off.... Sooooo whats gonna be planned for the 75th!!
