Thanks Axle on behalf of Miguel and the rest of us Lifters. I couldn't make it this year but most of us did. Miguel actually commented on how well you treated us and the nice speech you gave before the trophy presentation. You've got lifetime pals down here in San Diego for sure!

No...But I should have, cause I think my kid kept trying to pull his hair. Kirk got off lucky standing by him. He had just learned to spit that weekend. I thought for sure he was going to try it inside. Not a proud moment. Would have been a hell of a first impression though..:)

Congratulations Axle, on pulling off what by all accounts was another great GNRS Suede Palace "show and tunes". The Shifters club display really shows the club's talent and diversity within our genre. The quality of the entries looks fantastic. The pic's look great and unfortunately for me, they'll have to do.
    Also, congratulations to Hudson Joe!

  8. WOW ! ! Just got home to Colorado, what a trip is all I can say. Had never been to the GNRS before and what an amazing indoctrination. We hit town Tuesday night and Alex gave us a great tour of Shifter garages. We chased Joe down the street in his Niekamp inspired Roadster with me sliding around in the back of Alex's truck. Then saw some old style Hot Rodding going on in alleys..........very cool indeed.

The Suede Palace is without a doubt, "THE FUNHOUSE".

Thanks to the Kingsmen and the Shifters for the awards. As I said on stage, it means a great deal coming from people I respect. Both groups are great clubs.

All the Suede Palace were amazing......the '40 Willys G***er, the '36 3W Sled, Kirks Starliner, Mark and Mellisa's pick-up, and the Gene Winfield painted '60 Chevy were fabulous ! Lots of others as well but too many to list.

And most of all, a big congratulations to Hudson Joe on becoming a Shifter.....

....WAY TO GO ****HEAD ! !

I think stoked is an understatement.

  15. It was a blast! Even with hang-overs Rip Carson RIPPED!
See you at Lake Alice in Feb.

  16. The suede palace is always the highlight of the show. Everyone likes it because the cars are approachable and mostly the type of cars most guy's can either do themselves or have done (without a government bailout). Great job again this year, THANKS.

    Hey Axle
It was cool finally being able to meet you at Suede. By far it is the best building to hang out at. The rest of them are stuffy and lots of do not touch signs.
What I appreciate about the guys in SP is if I say " wow nice car" they want to tell me everything about it. I dig their enthusiasm. Ask a billett queen about his car and its ya ya It took me 3 years of writing checks to get it here. LOL
I am quite a bit older than most of the guys and gals who own these cars, but they always welcome me, talk to me and brag to me about their rides. I like that because thats what my ride looked like when I was a young guy.
Oh and BTW. Over The Hill Gang handled the outside parking and I will tell you that the guys at SP were the easiest. I did it Sat and Sun everyone wanted to park SP. All the guys driving into SP to park are thinking of is stopping this ***** and having a beer. Gotta love it.
Good job Axle on SP. Wish you luck at Autorama. Will send you a PM on that.
    See ya at VLV
    Jim

  20. Axel... Thanks for the spot.. The suede palace rocked.. Every car in there was worth a second and third look.. It was cool to see peoples reaction to the strip star sitting in the palace... I'm going to talk to gene and see what we can whip up for viva..

It was an awesome show,it was the best unstuffy building at the fairplex, the people were all really laid back, and i felt like these were real customs and rods, not untouchable, unobtainable, never build that in a 1,000 yrs rod and customs. When does registration begin for the next show at the fairplex?
