Stick with me here, this is going somewhere but it may take a while to reach the end. After the monotonous and most boring 2 hour routine of my carers getting me out of bedand ready to face the world, the curtains opened on the first really beautiful spring day we've had over here this year. I wheeled out to greet my wife and found a notice in the mail that I had a package waiting for me at the parcel depot. So she loaded me up into the Kripple Kart and we decided to do the 15 mile trip on the freeway to start breaking in the new Porter mufflers. Man it was glorious, beautiful sunlight, cool tunes on the iPod and running at 70 on the freeway with very little traffic. So anyhow, we pick up the package load me back into the kart and decide to take the scenic route home. Obviously not being a freeway, the route home is dotted with stop signs and a speed limit of about 40. We pulled up at one set, a quiet, quaint old world country pub to the left of me, and a meadow lined with daffodils to the right, not a car in sight in front of us. Just as the lights turned amber, Jane decided to put the hammer down, the 351 Winsor roared iinto life, the mufflers barked like twin Gatlings gun and at that exact same moment "Shanghaied" by the Fabulous Wailers burst through the speakers. With gravity pushing me back in my wheelchair, a huge **** eating grin on my face it was like Armageddon breaking loose in this quiet rural scene, and I thought to myself "man, it just doesn't get any better than this is!" The excitement of being in this place at that time hit me like a jackhammer and made me glad to be alive and a gearhead weirdo!
I just thought I'd share my perfect day, how was yours?

That was great, Paul. We've made it through another winter. So cool that you're wife knows how to "drive". lol

My wife and I love cruising country roads in our old cars too. We're in farm-land out here...plenty of old farms still around. Sometimes, when we're out there floatin' along a 2-laner on a warm summer evening, no traffic, oldies playin', pipes purring, it's very easy to imagine it's an earlier time...and all is right with the world.

    Yeah...perfect moments.

I am glad you got to have some fun. To me there is no better feeling than putting the hammer down on a hot rod, well maybe one. I am getting my Olds 455 together for my '42 Chevy, that is a great moment for me. Paul you inspire me with your at***ude and I appreciate your sharing your day.

I was in the restaurant today when I suddenly realized I desperately needed to p*** gas.

The music was loud....really, really loud, so I timed my gas with the beat of the music.

After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my coffee, and noticed that everybody was staring at me….

Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod.

    ...that was my day

Those IPODs, they can be both trouble and relaxing. Glad that you had no trouble relaxing.

I had the same feeling last night while driving home in my truck. It was about 2 am, the rain stopped and the sky was clear and calm. No one out but me. I have not seen a night like that in months.

    Paul,

Know exactly how you feel, there is something very special about that first real Spring day and heading out for a drive.

Really regretted selling my 56 this weekend, it was just perfect weather.

Glad to hear all good with you.
