Deffinatly take a look at the Suzuki offerings. The GS models were great bikes and the engines are practicly bulletproof. The smaller displacment bikes are still pretty cheap, but the big bore models pull a premium as the dragrace crowd snaps them up pretty quick. And if you're willing to build something from the ground up right now and have some time to source parts, look into the 80's oil cooled engines as well. Deffinatly quick outa the box and stupid reliable.

I'm actually building up a project myself. It's such a Frenkinstien it's scary. Late model water cooled GSXR 750 engine in a 80's Savage 650 frame. Upside down forks, big brakes, monoshocked and fat rubber. My strap a turbo to it too. See how that goes.

  3. Thanks Broman, I have been traveling and trying to get my coupe in good running shape in my spare time so I have been out of touch for a while, I was lurking and this post caught my eye. I have been playing around with bikes for a long time. I sold a Turbo 1176 Suzuki and a Hawk GT before moving to Texas, I still have a nitrous injected GS 1176 based on a 2 valve GS 1000 that I have had since 1989. The Honda is going to change a little but my original vision was a Pro Mod drag style 750F (it is larger displacement now). The V Max is a lot faster but the Blower drive and Magneto hanging out gives it a crazy look.

  4. To keep this on topic and in the Hot Rod theme, this is one of many in a series of VMax concepts I have been dreaming up.
It is not traditional, but it is a hot rod to me.
I will let it rest after this, thanks for tolerating guys.
    I just love bikes.

I drove a hopped up V-max that someone surrendered to a finance company once.

You know, there's fast, scary fast, and then there's shit-your-pants & scream-like-a-girl fast; which perfectly describes that V-max at 1/4, 1/2, and full throttle (respectively).

The swingarm on the ground is going to replace the current one, and I still need to cut the stock neck off and replace it with the new one I had made. Engine is probablly getting swaped out for an oil cooled model as well. But should be pretty fun when it's all said and done. Shot'n for the 350lbs mark with one.
