There are 2 Orange Crates and 1 other spelled Krate....2 Northern Stars, 2 Purple People Eaters...so I don't see an issue as it's a new inspired Hotrod with a pointy eared reference in the details on it hence the Title...and no doubt that will be what he calls it in conversation... Further to this Panther was referring to something completely different...he was referencing the Original title and the change in direction from 70s street rod to late 50s Highboy... Something similar to the Kookie situation... This Deuce did not have any significant Hotrod History so The OP is making it his inspiration...I'm really enjoying seeing Austin's journey back to a more Hamb Friendly iteration...
...I just thought I'd share these as inspirations as they reminded me of what you're stepping back to Ausinrod...they were shared by Hamber @Bill Van Dyke, one who lived the dream we revere in quite a big way... Man!! as hard as I try sometimes members screenames are almost impossible to get lit up... Anyways enjoy and I hope Bill is still in good health and I thank him for his service and sharing some pretty darn cool history here... He did have a Light colored 32 5w that had full with bobbed rear fenders that may actually be the one the top image... That would be this one below if so...but transitions happen and that's life in the fast lane and much of his lifestyle was extremely fast indeed...
Man I can't believe how badly you fuct this car up. I remember seeing this thread when you got it and I can't believe you stripped all the cool off it just to sell it. Funny part is I bet it would've sold in a week if you'd just left it alone.
The red car you posted a pic of that some thought was the same had an aluminum firewall with dual master cylinders... looks like your car has an aluminum firewall with holes for dual master cylinders and the rear end sticks out the same....looked like used to have white running boards too
Remember the Hamb ends in 1965...just saying...this is an unbolted, inspired reconfiguration of sorts really and quite frankly not f'd up at all... It's truly amazing how many vintage Hotrods were reconfigured aka 70s, 80s and beyond with really disastrous outcomes so it's always nice to see things hit the brakes and take a timewarp... I hope the next owner completes it's trip back that Austinrod undertook getting rid of the details that don't belong...chop or no chop as both were viable iterations...
What does 1965 have to do with it. It was built as a full fendered hotrod in 61 according to the thread. The 350/350 was hidden b4 removing the hood sides. Definitely not hamb friendly. Nice coilovers, electric fan, and aluminum radiator. Totally 1950s. Stripping off fenders and putting on whitewalls and moon disks does not make this car any more hamb friendly than it was. Just sayin.
Agreed it needs more 'new' removed to make the transition more plausible but Highboy and Full Fendered were looks ran in the late 50s early 60s so I don't believe it's as you said...I suspect you just prefer fenders period...I guess the next owner will decide which direction to take it from where it's at...obviously it could go either way...without much effort at all... ...the Thread should have been posted in the Hokey Ass Forum due to the number of modern details still present regardless of how it was configured in 62...I can't fault anyone though for wanting to experience an iteration of Highboy...
As we all know opinions are like assholes, I was just expressing mine. I felt like he stripped an old hotrod and then just put it up for sale but I guess he can do whatevr he wants. It's his car. I wish him good luck with his sale. Who knows what direction the next owner will take it. Could be easter egg paint with grafix and billet everything I'm out.
Pre 57...I see this as a plausible early 50s theme then came the 265...If had it I'd take it back more...but the smallblock was a nice option...I have one that I often say is a plausible post WW11 Hotrod aka 1963...some modern upgrades from inception as a Hotrod...to nice paint... This reminds me of where to go back in style...and a half fender might be nice...it is a journey to a previous vision...the Hamb is like a clock in history already lived so the inspiration is real..
