I was more worried about what was coming from the other side, but then again I have plenty of ground clearance. So somebody took a swing at you Ryan? Do tell!
Thank you Ryan!and to the crew, and all of HAMB for getting to experince the Drags at MoKan! Me and my wife had a Blast!! Also i would like to all the other polite and friendly people that we met, Brian Fox and his crew, and to the Texan`s that we met (soory we dint get your name). Well, it was well worth going to Mokan for our vacation, again THANKS! Br Kjell & Ann .............................. Taildragger&fenderless
i was just worried i was gonna miss something! i'll know better next year, we'll line up on the gravel road around 0600 or so...
HOLY CRAP!!!!! Now that will be my foreplay for the MONTH thinking of that!!!! AND,,, Thanks for washing the Henry-J for me lady!!!! You looked GREAT in that two piece laid out on the hood of my car!!! I will post those pictures later!!!
Thanks Ryan, it was my first time at the hamb drags and I doubt if I will ever miss it again. I was just a spectator but it was worth the 1300 mile round trip.
This was my first time and I was a mustang man but I have a goal of driving a car and racing at the hamb next year
Ok here is my stuck in line pic. I was just looking through the raw stuff one more time and realized that I got the city limit sign in with the roadster, that pretty much says it all, this is where the excitement really started.
Ryan, the Rollin" Nostalgia Car Club is ready, willing and able to help out anytime you need it. We have around 35 club members who are located 15 miles from the track in Pittsburg Ks, including "Smoke" who ran the orange 36 ford at 128 mph on his final passl We are loyal followers and have been coming to the HAMB drags since 2005. Just ask.
Ryan same goes here if you want help next year ... I am a veteran of the panic associated with those long lines... but hide it well. And drink lots at night when it's over. Seriously though I am just finally recovered from my "HAMB Drags Flu" and wanted to sincerely thank you for all you and your team do.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the track in Kansas, but what about organizing a SouthEast HAMB drag? There's a nice 1/8 th mile track in Greer, SC, that would be interested, but they require mufflers due to proximity to town. Somewhere like Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA (http://www.silverdollarraceway.com/) would be better. It's about five hours from me, but that's better than a couple DAYS!!
a couple of days? just an easy 16-18 hours behind the wheel. and an 1/8th mile? mufflers? yuck. one of the great things about where it is and getting your ass out there is the people, you won't get the Austin crew, or the Phoenix crew, or the a lot of the others. Hell flamedabone drove his A sedan there with no side windows, ran 11.30's and drove home.
dear Ryan, i have heard peaple say that this is getting to big, to many people, to crowded, i personally love it! so many cars, so many people from different parts of the country, it realy shows what you have built. forgive me if this has already been said, i dont really read the rest of the entries, but thank you from a missouri boy who needs inspiration to carry on what so many have help build. continue the "tradition" and thanks again Dustin (cheddar)
i'm spoiled by how close mokan is, but i have some limitations now that i didn't have a few years ago. the multi-day, multi-state trips we did were the most fun i've ever had in a car (front seat, anyway). cross-country trips like that make driving 15 minutes to a local parking lot seem pretty dull...
So, if I'm reading you correctly, it's all about YOU and how close or far away the track is for YOUR drive? YOU could start a tradtional styled drag race event in YOUR area just like Scary larry did in PA and the Kontinetials did in TX......trust me when I tell you this, will be a whole lot more work then a 15 hour drive.
Hey man, I have made the last three HAMB Drags from here in Augusta Ga.!! 28 hours round trip, 4 cases of beer, 14 Brautwurst, at least 1 ticket every year from the local PO PO( including this year), a laundry list of broken parts from year to year($$$$$) and this year I decided to jump up and leave the Thursday night before the drags!!! A trip WELL WORTH the company of the 400 to 500 best traditional hot rod car guys in the USA!!! Besides, if it is old cars at Reynolds Ga. you want,,,, then look up "Run What You Brung" in the search at the top of the page and I will see you next month!!!! Dont forget to bring somthing to eat!!!!! HAMB DRAGS are the best!!!!!!!
YEPPP!!!!! You jinxed me in the parking lot Sat. night when you asked" Have You Gotten Your Ticket This Year" Thayer Mo. 89mph in a 65mph!!!! That one's gonna hurt!!!! I told him I was trying to catch up to a friend of mine in a Flammed Abone from Charleston!! That got me NO SYMPATHY!!! Go Figure!!!
Just might take you up on that, but I'm not much of a drag racer. Bro and his friends are, he just sold his Pinto wagon. I'm more of a cruiser... build my cars a bit on the modest side to drive on the street. You ever run at Jackson, SC? Might meet up with you down there, or maybe a cruise-in near Augusta? I noticed the Henry J and looked at your profile. Nice car! If you've been to Jackson, you may know a Gary Smith with a black Henry-J powered by a 440... or have seen the car anyway! He's near me, go by his body shop all the time.
I thought about tellin them I was still drunk from the night before and trying to outrun the hangover !!! Then I thought better of it!!!
