Oh man, that car is so good! Texas car, too (DFW) and owned by some great folks, Christina and Kevin.
Most excellent! I’ve said it before. There is something about B&W photos that is more raw, more artistic than color photos. You should continue doing what you’re doing, let the gang post the color photos of all the other cars. The LSRU is on the bucket list. Dan
*****in ‘ I had to do a double take first glance thought had a chin spoiler until looking closer it’s the bumper.
Yeah the Plymouth really is a stunner I hadn’t figured out what it was until now. At first I thought it was a shoebox then a kaiser. Plymouth what a killer custom
I had the same thought process. I'm not well versed in Mopars, and I'm less familiar the older they are. Most strike me as being a little awkward compared to their GM and FoMoCo contemporaries, but that one (and its stock origin, after I Googled) is killer. Wish I had a chance to study it more. I feel like Saturday went by in a flash.
I have to disagree, I would say your images are museum quality. I have been to many a museum exhibit looking at black and white images of famous photographers, and you have all the qualities of those exhibits. Except for the modern dress you mostly photographed the beautiful machines finding the perfect angle, depth of field and eliminating background clutter. I especially liked the engine turned floats you caught on the four carb photo.
The LSRU had more traditional hotrod parts than Pate! Great swap meet, lots of nice folks, lots of beautiful colors like this :
I would never paint a car black/white and definitely not a fishing lure two tone BUT this guy pulled it off and looked real good
Great coverage. Like I say every year, I am going next year since it's been over 10 years since the last time I went.
I've got to say that I really enjoy the art of great black and white photos. Great work and attention to detail and fantastic choices. I may have to hunt down some film for the Pentax and play a bit. Roundup is still the bucket list road trip event for the 48 when it gets done or at least road trip worthy. One of my wife's sisters lives out SW west of you in the cedar breaks on divide P*** and the other lives near Waco.
