So I scrounge up what I'm told are a few Chevrolet 250's for another HA/GR car. "Swing on over and pick them up". I don't ask a lot of questions, the prices are right, yadda. Both are complete, airfilter to pan, fan to tailshaft. no pictures, just cl***ifieds.

I drive 495 miles one way, to pick up the first engine. It's not a 250, it's either a 235 or a 261 (i'm not that up on them, so I'm not 100% sure), I haven't run any casting numbers yet. I load it anyway, he says it runs great. outta guilt he let's me have it for $100 I'm cool with it, I'll use it for something. If it runs as well as he says, I'll be singing. On my way back home I stop at this next guys place 200 miles outta the way. Another incident where he says, Excellent running 250. So I don't ask a lot of questions, the price is right. Both engines came with transmissions.

I get there and realize it must be like the last year of the 250, all smogged up, integrated manifold head combo... Runs great, no smoke. I wanted the other head so I could build manifolds for it. was kind of looking forward to it, actually.

Lesson, ask better questions. Get a picture. ...lol... COMPLETELY My fault though for not asking better questions.

Oh well, was a fun trip. I did also score a dana 60 with 4.11's and a detroit locker for a good price from the dude with the 250 ($100 with rims). Might go under my g***er.

    weird weekend.
