  14. Dirty's Damn that is one hell of a good story. My dad and I were about the same when it came to our '31 5 window. The very first night I met my wife, I ended up at her house about 3 am.(she used to bartend) Her dad had p***ed away a month or so before, and myself, my wife and a couple of friends ended up at her house. I start talking to her mom, the nice guy I am, and she asks me what kinds of things I am into and I say restoring, cl***ic cars, hot rods etc. and she says oh then you would like the car in my garage, It was started by janice's brother and his dad had started messing with it, but did not know where to start. Her dad brought it back from a move he did in the back of an 18 wheeler.
So by this time I was really wondering what it was. She tells me go look at it. I go through the kitchen, (as chills run down my spine) I pop open the door to the garage and fumble for the light switch, its really dim and very cluttered. I just about have a heart attack, and get goose bumps big enough to call mountains. I say HOLY **** ITS A F***IN 5 WINDOW FORD COUPE WITHA RUMBLE SEAT.... I was in heaven. I Immediately asked how much she wanted for it. She told me since her son, and husband had lost interst in it, she wanted $2500 for it. I said sold. (I had no idea where I was going to come up with $2500 but if i had to sell my left nut, I was going to get it)
I get home about 10 am the next morning, My eyes were freakin huge my dad says to WTF were you doing last night? Did you get some damn good nookie or what? I said hell F*** no, I got something BETTER. He gave me taht WTF r u talkin about look and then said WTH did you find now? We had already worked 2 years ona '39 ford 4door deluxe(before it was totaled in our driveway by a drunk driver), and rebuilt a 1965 mustang for me. Anyhow I tell him I found us a 5 window Model A. He told me no F'n way? I said yeah and its 95% complete. I told him for $2500, and said u better tell mom, so I go in and tell her to come outside, I tell her, and she says lets gotot he bank before they close. We got there about 5 minutes before they closed and got the cash, called our friend up who owned a wrecker service, and he took the flatbed over and we brought her back home. Tore her apart, labeled everything, and boxed and bagged it up and then a few weeks later dad got sick. Had to have back surgery, and some other problems. make along story short it got stashed away for a few years, i got into building custom jeeps, and the A sat, undisturbed in his garage, I got married, and thought I had to give up my p***ion for the wife and marriage. Well now that I am not young and dumb, My wife (whose dad had originally started this project) and I are going to build us a full fendered '31 5 window. Her and I are both really excited about this, but now we are pending a move to San Antonio,Texas. and yet will be put on hold again.

I am sorry for running on and on, but I love to hear stories of how we got our rides. Congrats Dirty's and I know the little one will love it when she gets to cruise it, My 6 year old can not wait to go for the first ride int he '31 when its ready. Where Abouts are you guys hiding at? Anywhere close to SA? or Austin?

  16. cool, I saw that on dirty31's profile, in combine, south east side, slipped through that way about a yr and half ago. I am not sure what part of SA we will be in, but anywhere is better than freakin Corpus Christi. I was hoping to have it boing pretty soon, but when we found out she was be hunted by some mortgage banks, we decided to put everything on hold here, finish fixing up the house, and paying stuff off. If you guys have a website post up some pics. So far it looks awesome, hell of a good start.

the big thrash was supposed to be tonight , but my wife had to have a kindey stone removed so I had to stay home with the kiddos, Tomorrow we are gonna do some serious thrashing on the Coupe. There has laready been alot done he just has not posted any pics. There should be a good updated post come Monday with a killer motor in place. Atleast that is the goal.
