What a great find! That would be one nifty full fendered 3 window in yellow with a hemi!

Cool. If he's not a HAMBer, turn him onto the site so we can follow along on his build.

Please tell me it wasn't Victorville or Hesperia Ca.

Close enough. Looks like the car wasn't more than a couple of hours from either of us for many decades. Glad the car was uncovered and will live again as a Hot Rod.

    From the ad;

Old hot rod 1934 Ford 3 window Coupe found in garage in the Mojave desert has been sitting in the garage since 1967 was an original Hot Rod from riverside ca. The story we received was the gentleman bought the car from a kid that enlisted in the military in the mid 50's and drove it around riverside till 1967 when the gentleman moved to the desert and took the car apart to rebuild it with a Hemi and Olds rear end the last year it was registered was 1965 in Joshua tree ca.

Did the one you missed looked like this 21 years ago? IMG_8897.PNG
This I bought out of VV, off of Bear Valley Rd. Exit and perhaps 11th ST.? The guy owned it with his brother in law Jesse Horne was from Compton and he bought a house for his sister up VV where she stored it next to a Jag XJ -6 and it originally came out of Calexico in 1949.

It's a pretty cool Hot Rod that hasn't been messed with other than the usual stuff. 383deuce saw it when he was in town, I agreed that I've got to drive it around again as I've missed getting pulled over every time I was headed home by a cop/sheriff thinking, "oh sh*t, I must be getting pulled over for my 56 plate that's been a part of the car since Jesse & John cruised CA. Streets back in the day. They just wanted to have a look at it. Some wanted to buy it;).

It's 16"steelies that were body color when I got it do time on my purple 34 wearing w/w's.
If this is the one, then know it went to a person that digs having it working on nearly 3 decades.

Small world, for some reason I remember John saying something about that. It took building a relationship with John in order to let him know that I was serious about that 34 3W.
As we spoke more and more he indicated that he wanted to make it into a modern street rod with many billet attributes: (.!!!!
I visited him a few times and and his sister Mae.
It still looks similar to how you remember it. Many calls were made in order to get this car, it wasn't the best time in my life to spend a bunch of dough and I had to sell a non-topic restored car in order get part of that dough....
PM me, I'd like to know more about it.

Yeah,i was driving down the street (Balsam) one day working when I saw this garage door open with this 34 sitting inside.I quickly did a u-turn and stopped and went to the door and asked if it was sale. This black lady told me that it belonged to her brother who lived near LA and would call him for me and ask him.Well when I stopped by next time, she said he said no,not at that time so I asked if I could get his phone number.Evently I got his phone number and he told me that a couple of guys wanted it and he decided he would sell it for nine thousand.I didn't have the cash so I offered my 33 ply four-door that only needed interior(I know 4-door) but he said that if he wanted to drive around in a old car, that 34 coupe would be the one. Can't blame him.Anyway, one day I went by,and the coupe was gone so I knew it was sold- to you I guess. Then the next time I seen the car,it was at the LA Roadster show in the swap meet area .(no for sale sign on it),I figured some one was showing it off.Well at least a Hamber got it.You still have it I hope.If I would if I would have got it.Have to get off here so I don't get tears on my keyboard.BooHooooo(crying) Sad Exterminator:(:(:(

Yup, still have it, did a few RCRR's in it. I remember flat towing it home behind my 76 Datsun King Cab-(way off topic here), John told me to be there at 12:00, I was there at 11:00, a rarity for me ;).

He didn't arrive till 5:00. Right when he arrived I put those greenbacks in his hand and swapped out the tires so I could get on the road. I didn't want to tow it down the p*** so I went over to Phelan, mind you it was dusk now and I had no lighting as I thought that this would be going down during the day.

I white knuckled it all the way to TC. I remember Jake stating that he bought the ones that he got in 71 and the worst one wasn't like that one. Heck I thought that it looked pretty damn good!!!!!

I got it running with the engine that was in it , had fun fir a few months and I drove it over to the Muroc 97 reunion, the engine I always thought was dicey, so I swapped in another and used it as a test bed for the 24's that we continue to make.
The shot in the pic is ElMo and it's been all kinds of places. I haven't driven it since I became landlocked with a bunch of non runners, so currently I lost a wheel cylinder on the left front.

2 dozen + Hot Rod guys knew about that car, one guy told them and then John informed me after the same amount of calls that he almost didn't want to sell it. I informed him that I'd keep it as they've had it but improved upon its mechanical condition and seat/door panels. It really hasn't changed visually since the time you saw it in the garage.

That car has had the distinction of running the "CA Kids" bias plies to the point where I wore them down to cords, Chronicled in the 2nd ever HRD with a small pic on the RCRR #7 I believe.

John was happy to know that we were continuing what Jesse and he achieved back in the day. She's never been a beauty queen, but I still think she's perfectly fine.

    Kevin,
Well you may think she never has been a beauty queen, but I think she is the queen of the ball. You dig her out of that garage and I will come get it. After 30 days in my shop (I will not change anything) you will drop your jaw to the floor and think she is the best looking ya ever seen. That car has SOLE and all it needs is someone to bring it out for everyone to see.
Hell I know you like roadsters, so how about I trade you mine for her?

Sorry Dennis, ya gots to read that last line because to me she' s fine, hence her Garage life while the roadsters live out in the CA. Climate. Albeit they're bagged....that keeps the H-20 off of them, but you saw that at Pismo when Elmer, Bruce & you visited.
Dennis, I appreciate you digging her as well. ;).

Now if you're buying me an Early Ford Dealership in So -Cal with porcelain signage, I might entertain that ;).

For some reason I knew that was going to be your reply. But just may-be all this interest in your 3 window and a little of my nagging will get you around to digging it out of that garage and back on the road where it should be......

Dennis, this how it looks outside in the light.
Kool angle in the shot. The car does shine in the sunlight.

So, Youngster 51, you were able to actually buy that 3 window and you sold it?..... I cannot wrap my head around this!
Can't wait to see what you build now...must be even cooler than a 34 ford 3 window, what ever that is.
