the rudy/moody ******/coahuila truck. so, it's been at its new home for a month or so. i haven't driven a single rod since then or any other car for that matter. oops, i did drive the wife's tahoe up to "man-tana" for a wedding. but, here's the scoop. i want to change the door, keep the tradition alive. i have had my thoughts and have been psych'd until now. i'm having second thoughts. it will be unchanged for bonnevile but i have a striper lined out for the week after. we have a shop in the makings right now which will be called the "flying a garage". my gramps had the flying a station back in the day. so we're gonna continue the thought and recreate it. my only thought has been a patina'd flying a on the door. i've done it on "windows paint" but i dont savy how to post a bitmap like that. i would post it and get your thoughts if i could. any help? whatdya think? just a killer A with wings, or the full red circle? rural
I loved that truck with the whitewalls and door painting, it was more "alive", but now it's your turn to make it cool!
Foot tapping, was waiting for this man. Especially when I think we got off on the wrong foot. I even tracked down the old thread a couple days ago and almost pulled it back to the top. So glad you are getting to enjoy it......the way it was meant to be enjoyed. That logo will kick ***. IMO, you should run the Logo like Choprods posted only minus the whole circle. Use the green patina as the background behind the Flying, "A", and Garage. Thanks for keeping all of us in the loop on this truck. Oh BTW, when are you going to unveil the "plans" for the Tardel car? Good luck with the shop.
first off it took forever to get it. the seller was in no hurry to ship. plus it was new hamshire to nevada. ****. so i finally got it and honestly haven't stopped a minute. very little HAMB time. my pops was in spain for the month and it was me, myself, and i here to run the shop and keep things floating. as for the tardell sedan plans. there are none. that car is not changing, except for minor interior changes, possibly. the "plans" referred to something else and like i said, i hate to talk until "ground breaks". i'll have to think of the right way to introduce it and let ya know when she flies. the door. yeh, still not sure if we go just lettering on the patina'd green door or the whole red circle gig. the circle seems to be too uniform, even if it's washed out and old look. a lot of flying a stuff back in the day was red, white, and green. so the lettering might work. i really thought and was hoping for everybodys take on it. photochopped or not. i'd like to show the striper my thoughts. 9 times out 10 i think it's better to let the artist do his thing than to try and lead them along. lets see what we can do. rural
On our way to Paso May 2001. This is the only way that truck should ever have looked, and no, Rudy doesn't give two ****s if it's been changed, he had his fun with it, sold it and moved on to bigger and better things. Skip
I'm glad your not seperating the body and the frame..... I just wish the door art would have stayed. Everyone I've heard from thats driven that car says its fun to drive. I can't believe where thats things been since I first say it. Will someone get rudy on a computer, although I think hes to busy in his garage. Everything I've seen come outta rudy's garage is *****in
i somewhat agree. the ******s and the whole set up did it. side note: i asked the seller if he'd get rid of the wheels/tires and he said no. "i want to keep them". steve put the red and blacks on it and "gave" him the merc caps and www. i couldn't say enough about good ole steve. the other however seems to be REAL hard to deal with. i've learned all about it from steve and mags. if we were to go wth the ******s, you know!, it just wouldn't be the same. so then it would get the "tried to put it back rash". rural
is anybody ever going to paint the thing??? ive seen it in person and the body looked to be in nice shape. i love unfinished rides too,....but i think an actual progression other than changing the wheels would be killer.. .i would LOVE to see it in shinny black and lotsa chrome .. in fact, that was my plan for the 35 i started on earlier this year untill i sold it,,,
It's your deal now. You have to make it YOURS. Don't let people talk you into restoring it. I think it looks way better with the red wires. I think it would be cool to blow it all apart and shine it up. Everything I've seen come out of Rudy's shop since that truck has been nice and shiney. I think it would honor him if you took that thing to the next level. He likes black so shiney black might be cool or some other traditional color. Then it becomes YOURS not some *******ization of what it WAS.
Rural, Glad all is going well. Did you ever call and talk to my fatherinlaw about the truck, if you did he didn't mention it. Since you are asking for opinions If it were mine I would love to see it painted. It wouldn't have to be shinny but that would be tops. Even if it were a cool suede color as long as it was one color with a nice grill and some other bright work. The flying A logo is a cool idea, but I am partial to oil and gas logos and anything they involve. Glad all is going well. Give me a call sometime. Tracy
I like your idea of keeping the tradition and changing it. What if the red circle was smaller and the lettering and the wing tips hung over the edge breaking it up? Sorry i can't photoshop too well. Clark
tracy i've talked to him a few times. learned a lot. i'll be in touch. hows the sedan? looks killer from what i've seen. pachi
Paint the damn thing shiny! In 10 months all the OSR rockasillys will be tripping over their cuffs trying to follow suit and make their RUDY TRUCKS look like it
I agree with both Clark and Tman. First paint that truck a nice shiny color. I'm thinking a real nice deep darkish blue....but not too dark. Second, put that emblem on the doors...with the A and the wings overlapping the edge of the circle. That way is ten times more interesting than the A/wings inside the circle. Third. Get some whitewalls back on the truck. I think it would be killer, and it would add a NEW beginning to that truck. Everyone who has owned it so far has failed by leaving MOST of what the original owner did. Like the "patina" green paint. I don't think you can put anything on that green paint and make it work...and heres why: That green paint is part of the original combination. The ONLY thing anyone can see being right on those doors WITH that green paint, is the ******s. Lose the green paint. Use your own emblem. Get some whitewalls back on it...and you can't go wrong. Just my 2¢ Take it or leave it.
my other truck. i dont want 2 too similar. that's "molly matchy". gay. i can see shiny down the road. for now lets change the door. there was a 33-34 3window at the L.A. roadsters show i saw. it was killer. i could see the truck similar to it. shiny black, www, no hood, chopped. seen it? the flying a would look good on the 32 for sure. i've thought of that.
HA HA! hell, I didn't know you already HAD the truck I was describing. That makes me feel good though, cause what I was describing is an awesome color and wheel combo. Rock on. Oh and I agree, DO NOT paint the '35 blue now.
That big red meatball isn't doing it for me. I'd skip it and just paint the words/logo in red. What about customizing the name, too...."Fu*king A Garage"? Although....now that I look at it in print, it might be too reminiscent of a Chinese restaurant... (That would prolly be "Foo King", though.) Bottom line: it's your truck. Do wha'cha like.
