Not alot of progress to post. I've been just cleaning small parts, and getting things ready to assemble.. picked up a super clean model T spring for the back. I started blasting and getting the backing plates ready for paint and assembly . doing every little bit I can until my body is done at Flops. I took my 40 wheels to several places getting prices on blasting and powder coating.. quotes of $400+ drove me to just using aircraft stripper from work, then soda blasting them in the cabinet. I saw the black paint falling off, and underneath was a bright metallic purple with cream colored pin stripes... sure makes you wonder what these ol wheels have been on and where they have traveled.
Liking your vision Ben. Liking it a lot. When my brothers 7.50 x 16's for his roadster turned up I freaked. They're a bloody tall skinny tyre when off the rim. Certainly fill that wheel well nicely. All the best.
worked on the rear end today. I primed the backing plates and grease sheilds. soda blasted all the hardware and bolted them on the quick change rear. last thing to do is get the rear hubs separated from the old drums. I'll be pressing new studs into the hubs so the rear drum is removable. I've seen this done before so I'll have to research what studs were used. I'll be reusing the original ford rear wheel bearings. they are very nice .
I used the Pure hotrod rear shock mounts for my quickie and really like the way they look. You can use the bolt on ones. I had to weld the rear mounting brackets on mine because I have late model plug in axles. They look great with the quickie.
would you happen to be able to post any photos ? I was gonna run mechanical shocks , but I prefer gas shocks .

a little early ford adaptation.... i used a Dorman wheel stud, part# 982821. reamed the stud holes to .620, flipped the hub over and removed a little material to let the studs sit flat. they pressed right in nice and tight and have long enough of a knurl to fill the hub. the new aftermarket drums are hub pilot , not stud pilot.. so they center themselves on the center of the hub. best part is, any autozone carries them and can be changed alongside the road!. these studs are intended for a 1990 chevy astro van... so if my wheels fall off, I'm blaming it on that.
Where'd you source that louvered deck lid? Did a single vendor provide it already louvered for you, or did you have to buy the deck lid from one vendor and then send it to be louvered somewhere else?
actually it came from Brookville this way... apparently they had several done by SAR, (Steves auto restoration) and I just had to ask the right questions to get it.
Yes I could. I have been holding out posting pics of my almost finished frame but here is a teaser pic or two. Left and right shown. If you have early Ford axle tubes you can run the bolt on ones. I'm running 72 Bronco brakes with plug in axles to handle my 371 Olds so I had to get the weld on tabs/bracket mount. Very happy with this product. I did have to use a short P&J shock to get it to work with my setup. Hope this helps.

a little confusion on the wheel stud. I got them from advanced auto parts . here is a screen shot of what I got. the actual dorman number is 610-126 according to summit racing, autozone or advanced auto couldnt look them up that way. so we went with that they were inteded for, a 1990 chevy astro van with a 4.3
I was wondering about that. I believe an Astro van would have had a 7/16" stud, not a typical Ford 1/2". So I just wrote that up so I could subscribe to the thread. Nice work so far!
the astro van does have 1/2x20.. the stud i purchased is for the astro van and chrysler used them also, the auto parts store all use their own part numbers . so that factory dorman # is 610-126.

I have fallowed yours since the day you scored that body !!! when I decided to build mine , I knew first thing it had to be everything I ever wanted in a hot rod. since a project like this, usually only gets to happen 1 time. I love how your car turned out. love the color too. I decided to go with a factory 32 color, Tunis grey. black wheels and I'm going to light cream colored pin stripes on the wheels. then it'll have the 394 B on the door just as it was intended for my 34 3 window when I did it. I have formed my entire build around how Ken and Keith build the rolling bones cars
Love your color choice..... How did you come up with the 394 B ? as I just know there has to be a story on that.
I bought a hood for my old 34, that was off a dirt track car. it had a 394 Olds in it apparently and they had painted on the hood ," 394 olds", down the sides . and I just though it was cool as it gets . so it has stuck with me, the 34 was 394C , but it got sent to a new home , so the 32 will be 394B.
here is a small update. Finished up the rear hubs, The studs leave a nice bit of knurl sticking out that will also help center the drum. Really happy with how they turned out,. I etch primed the 40 ford wheels, and they are ready for fill prime now.. Then a nice thick coat of black. Doing what small jobs i can in between a few customer cars..
just a few photos of all 4 wheels.. also you can see the rest of my 32 slung from the rafters. there is a 32 chassis, boxing plates, 36 radius rods, 32 wishbone , 32 heavy axle , t rear spring , posi front spring , 39 ford x member with pedals, 32 headlight bar, 32 dash , and 4 new excelsior tires. all waiting there turn.... and my other pride and joy, my future belly tank project .. Ben,. Do you have the rest of the rear brake parts for this? I have some nice drums and other parts left over.
