  1. LOL. That's what happens when I post from my phone. CluB member t-shirts. They were only Large shirts, so he must not be very clunky, or chunky.

  2. The trip to the 2016 Frog Follies, in Evansville, IN. Roughly 1000 mile round trip.

  3. I had a few nibbles on the "For Sale", over in Evansville. One guy had offered a trade on a pretty cool "monkey face" truck, but I'm wanting to cash out.

I have decided that within the next week, or so, I have to finally bite the bullet and drop the gas tank, and clean it out. I think that I had 6 stops, along the way, where I had to climb under the car, take the fuel line loose, and blow crap out of the fuel pickup in the tank. On one of the stops, somewhere in Illinois, I forgot to tighten up my gas cap, and Doug said he passed it rolling down the highway. Fortunately, I was able to buy one from a vendor for $20 at the event.

Kinda surprised you still have it but at least your getting some fun out of it :)

  5. Yeah, I was kinda hoping to have to hitch a ride back to StL, but it's all good. I had some small signs posted in the rear quarter vent windows, but probably should have had a store bought "FOR SALE" sign in the windshield, to catch some attention.

Also, I should have done some "power parking", for more visibility, but I'm not into that kind of thing. LOL

  6. Great thread! As the owner of two unfinished 40's (coupe and pickup) it's inspiring and encouraging.

BTW: I'm looking for a bare 36-40 frame if you run up on one.

  7. Thanks! This one is currently the 3rd '40 Ford in my fleet. Dad and I were talking, on the way home from Evansville, that he was amazed that in less than a month and a half, I took an old abandoned hot rod and got it back on the street. He also commented about how we were crazy enough to take it on nearly a 1,000 mile road trip! (he only rode for about 500 of those miles, though)

I'll keep my eyes and ears open for a frame.

If you can get it up here this week I'd be willing to take it to greaserama with a big for sale sign in it for you. I know you said you couldn't make it so I don't know how you'd get it up here before then but thought I'd offer anyways.

  9. LOL. I'd consider that but I'd hate to have you get stuck on the side of the highway blowing rust out of the fuel line.

Wouldn't be the first time lol. Could meet you half way? I only charge a small selling fee commission of getting to drive it for a couple days ;)

  11. My sister sent me a text with a few "action" shots from the weekend's trip to Evansville.

And the all too common view of me blowing the sediment blockage out of the fuel pickup on the gas tank. Fortunately, I was smart enough to cut the rubber hose long enough to reach through the fuel gauge sending unit access hole.

I think I would be dropping the tank out for a good cleaning after just a couple of filter cleanings...... It does make for more stories to tell though.

  15. Oh...man...I wish I could talk my wife into driving the van to the KC game tonight, let me follow her in the '40 sedan, and leave it at your place tonight, I'd be in good shape. Unfortunately, she's not being cooperative on that idea.

Oh wait, did you try asking if she could follow you in the van instead of you following her in the 40?

  18. LOL. She has other plans for the ride up that will require her to be a passenger.

  19. Well...It appears that I will soon be waving goodbye to the '40 MorDor. At the risk of jinxing my pending deal, I've got a guy planning to come purchase it on Sunday. Part of the pending deal is that I will put a new Tank's tank in the car for him. I had planned on dropping the tank this week, anyway, and he is paying for the new tank, so it all works out good.

Now I'm looking to find a decent 38-47 Ford COE cab.

    good deal for both

  21. Holy cow...I forgot how much of a pain it can be to get a fuel tank out of a '40 that has parallel leaves and dual exhaust that come out the back! Yeah, I remembered that you gotta slide it to the driver's side, drop the passenger side, then slide it to the passenger side to get it out of the frame rails, but that's when the rear springs and exhaust got in the way. LOL Didn't help that one of the cage nuts decided to break free from it's captivity, so I had to get a cutting disc up in between the frame rail and tank, and cut the head off of it.

The good news is that the new tank is in, the fuel lines are replumbed, the gauge is working, and it's now got a full tank of gas for the new owner to make it home with.

  22. I was a heathen, this morning, and skipped church to head to the shop. Had a few last minute things I was wanting to take care of on the '40 MorDor, before sending it home with it's new owner. I finally wired up the rear license plate lamp, put a new speedometer cable back in it, and cleaned out some of the road trip garbage that was leftover from Frog Follies and Greaserama.

Bill showed up at 2pm, just as we had discussed last Sunday, and after an exchange of cash and a title, he drove northbound. It'll now live in Smithton, MO, so you Sedalia area guys keep an eye out for it. 14355705_10209508755903524_3133231948753160207_n.jpg
After depositing the cash in the bank, I quickly got over the seller's remorse!
